A good story, but a number of inconsistent details, like the number of bullets left. 3 bullets at the beginning, and at near the end, he had like a half clip of bullets, which is which. Also the cliches and prose basically detract from the story overall. A good concept of a story but has to be reworked to fix details and limit the amount of purple prose in it.

I thought the rifle had three shots left in the beginning? I thought his rifle was spent after he took the Khargax ship? And he survived even though his blade broke?

The endless cliches and fill in prose, interferes with a fairly good story.

Way too many words extolling the strength of the human spirit, He starts out with 3 plasma shots left, wastes one on the critter he missed, then magically he has a half clip of charges after he takes the ship, a failure in the story. He sees the Khargax ship, heads for it, then all of a sudden he's studied the thing and their patrols for days as he attacks (yep, missed that one big time). Maybe proofread these stories, find authors older than 12 years old.
