It's interesting that Caitlin brought up Ready or Not as a comparison at the end because Grace was actually supposed to die at the end of it as well. Radio Silence decided to change it since they felt it would've been a downer for what was otherwise a fun movie.

I think she’ll be able to be let off. There’s a lot of evidence that reveals Crispin and Felix’s schemes. The bottles of pee and food wrappers in the closets and Felix left his signal jammer in his car. Also there’s Felix’s and Crispin’s phones as they’ll have the proof they’ve been planning this via Crispin calling Felix

I really love that scene where she takes out the first bad guy. The dodge only buys her a split second to kick him in the balls. That only buys her another half second to grab the nearest thing, which is the meat tenderiser, and hit him in the knee. That buys her just enough time to go for the head, and then she goes for him again. You don't want to stop there. Make certain he's not getting up. We know what horror movie villains are like. Erin in You're Next, or Tommy in Friday the 13th IV, know that you don't get bonus point for stopping early, you just get a jumpscare where they kill you. Every point of that scene Erin only bought herself enough breathing room for her next move, and she had to make the right move every time, or she'd be dead right there. You sometimes see someone make a smart decision in a horror film. I can't think of any other time someone made a heap of good decisions in quick succession.

I saw others have pointed out that Ti West (director of X, Pearl, House of the Devil) plays the boyfriend who gets sniped by a crossbow, but the neighbor who gets killed in the opening sequence is Larry Fessenden (director of Wendigo, Last Winter, Depraved). Love seeing all of these indie horror folks popping up in each other’s movies.

Ugh, this is such a comfort film! Erin definitely made this movie looks so good, and badass. We love a final girl who actually gotta fight! And this one’s kinda creepy too. Slight recommendation too, “The Sacrament” directed by Ti West, he directed X and he’s a very good director, writer, and editor. Looking forward for your reactions!

There’s an awesome super small detail in this movie that I love. It’s when the whole family first arrives and the mom (or it might be the dad) asks if anyone would like a drink and Crispin, Felix, and Zee are the only ones who raise their hands.

This movie came out when I worked at a movie theater in highschool. I remember one night these parents brought their kid who had to be, I dunno, maybe 10 or 11 at most to see this one. When I advised them this was a pretty violent film and not exactly fit for kids they complained to my manager that I was 'telling them how to raise their child' 😆

You're next popped up while I was doing a horror marathon at my local cinema, never heard of it before. It was the middle of the night at that point but people went CRAZY over it, cheering along and having the most hilarious reactions. I fell in love with Erin, she's my absolutely fave final girl, I even cosplayed her. Wish I could watch this movie for the first time again!

When I think of great 21st century horror, this is towards the top of those films. That borderline comedy, blended with the brutality, and one of the best final girls to ever enter the genre. And while The Strangers truly unsettles me, I'd say that's probably one of those too.

My favorite part of this movie is that “You’re Next” switches from a threat from the antagonists to a warning from the protagonist not to fuck with her. She very quickly begins to pick them off one by one.

Well there is a hint Crispin was in on it, one of the masked killers was in the closet his dad was about to open and Crispin entered the scene so in all his dad never opened that closet to reveal one of the killers early on.

A movie I would really recommend ist a little found footage movie called „The Visit“. It scared me so much but also has some funny moments. The tension is outstanding, but please don’t expect to much since many people don’t really find that movie horrifying. Just go in witch no expectations and it will be at least a good time!

I love this film. Erin is such a great final girl. The moment she jumped out the window because she wasn’t prepared to physically fight her attacker was jaw-dropping. Oh, and there are definitely moments where Crispin showed red flags. He stopped his father from discovering one of the hitmen who hid in the closet. And just his hostile behavior toward his brother. We see they have an odd dysfunction. I don’t know who I hated more-Crispin or Z.

The script definitely has some dark humor in it. It also falls under “mumblecore” which adds a level of camp. It’s one of my favorite modern horrors for this reason

Some good gore & amusing at times too, decent film. I recommend Possession (Andrzej Zulawski, 1981), starring Isabelle Adjani & Sam Neill. Make sure it's the 124 minute uncut version. Multilayered film with political subtext, symbolism, metaphors & an extraordinary performance by Isabelle Adjani. It's a masterpiece imo. Another one that will make you think is Triangle (Christopher Smith, 2009). Clever time-looping mind-bender.

If you like home invasion, you should watch Funny Games. You’re gonna hate it 🤣 both versions are good. The 2007 remake is shot-for-shot and made by the same director with the only difference being the language and the actors.

so, if you enjoyed the kinda weird vibe of this movie, you should def check out "the guest" (2014, starring dan stevens), it is also written by simon barrett and directed by adam wingard (like this movie). it has pretty much the same style (less gory, little crazier) and could be described as the movie equivalent of retrowave music (to like 80s action/sci-fi/horror/thrillers). it also has alot of retrowave.

It’s considered more of a thriller than a horror film, but… If you’re into home invasion stories, especially with competent heroes and even somewhat sympathetic villains: I’d recommend Panic Room.
