I have had my girl since 2011. She can be sweet but has never been the cuddle bug I hoped for. I have learned over the years to not overstimulate her with pets. I have been harshly bitten by her many times. I tell my friends she’s a look at only cat for their safety. She likes to be near me, but rarely sits right against me so I cherish every opportunity when she does. She has become a bit nicer since I changed her to a species appropriate meat only diet a few years ago (cats are obligate carnivores). It does make me wonder if the crap food I used to feed her just made her feel bad and that contributed to ill behavior. She also lost the extra 2-3 lbs of weight she used to carry around. She is great in that she gets along with two Chihuahua’s just fine and only mildly swats at them if they play too aggressively near her. 😂❤

I've had more than a dozen cats in my life, and all have been strays and adopted. Adopted cats are the most loving cats ever. They know you have saved them. I now have a ginger boy who someone threw out, and he ended up at our house crying for help. He adopted us and is my pride and joy.
@Fifi_Is_My_Name-O3 ай бұрын
Omgoodness! Some ginger cats are so intelligent, they know how to pick their people! ... Many decades ago, I had a a ginger boy that all of a sudden kept showing up at my house. I'd be sitting on my front porch and he'd pop out of the hedge and come up and plop right into my lap (and he was a HUGE cat)... I began saying, "well, howdy Stranger" when he'd show up... and so I decided to name him "Stranger".Next thing you know, I'm putting water and food out for him... it didn't take long before I'd fallen in love with him and wanted to adopt him... I went around the entire neighborhood asking if he belonged to anyone or if they knew who he belonged to. Then I put an ad in the "found pets" section of the newspaper. I didn't want the heartbreak of having to give him up later because somebody said, 'hey, that's my cat', so I did everything I could to find his owner... I only got 3 calls, the first two people just wanted to double check on details that ruled out their missing pets, I was relieved... but the third call was from a man who said that his mother had lived in my area. I hadn't lived in the neighborhood very long so I didn't know his mother but he told me she had passed away recently. The man and his family lived a fair ways away, across town and they had taken her cat when she passed. I got the impression that they weren't exactly looking for another pet as they already had several but they didn't want to send his mother's cat to a shelter so they took him in. I told him that I had fallen in love with Stranger and if he wasn't theirs, I planned to keep him... but I was down-trodden after this call because it sounded like he probably was their cat. So, the whole family came over (two parents and two young kids). I was holding Stranger and I talked a little more with the man who pointed out the house his mother had lived in... it was right across the street and kitty corner from mine. I thought, "this smart kitty found his way home"... and said sadly, "So this must've been her cat?" ... then the man paused thoughtfully and said, "nope, I don't think that's him". I was so happy, I thought for sure it was theirs... But then the two little kids started talking excitedly saying, "Dad! What do you mean?! That's him, that's him!! Can't you see??" and my body deflated at the thought of saying goodbye to Stranger as I loved him dearly. I said to the Dad, "are you sure??" Their Dad said firmly, "No it's not him" and then to the kids, "Now, get in the car..." and the kids protested the whole way as their parents wrangled them back into the car, and they drove away... My mind was reeling a little bit and it began to dawn on me as they were driving away that this most likely was the cat that had belonged to his mother and that he just wanted to make sure he had a loving home. And that's the story of how Stranger adopted me. He was a one-in-a-million kitty... I swear he understood english and so did everyone that met him, he was so smart and intuitive. Everyone loved Stranger. I was so lucky that he picked me.

Some cats just don't like their backs pet but gently rubbing their jowls and the top of their head brings them comfort. Some also like their ears gently rubbed with the back of a finger or a knuckle. My cat had similar traits. She has osteoarthritis according to my vet. Monthly Solensia injections is a time release inhibitor to the arthritis pain and it works very well. It was just FDA approved a little over a year ago. Last, my vet also found my cat was hyperthyroid. Her T4 level was about 9. With daily transdermal Methimazol medication, her T4 level went to a normal 1.4 and that (according to my vet) brought her back to "acting her age" vs. a very agitated and unrestful disposition. My cat is about 13 years old. Last, I'm wondering if the cat might be happier in its original school environment if there is not danger to him with proper vaccinations and veterinary care. Maybe he just likes being able to roam outdoors at the school. I volunteer at a nonprofit shelter and work specifically with ferals. Some just never evolve to being "house cats" and we are fortunate to have both fenced indoor/outdoor habitats and some have become out outdoor "shelter cats" with permanent residence. We are fortunate to have a 10 acre facility that is free from predatory animals and traffic. Oh. Forgot to say thank you for starting the videos again. I realize you likely needed time due to the passing of your beloved kitty and it's good to have you back.

Well from what I have learned from cats, especially one who has been out on the street. Let the cat dictate when they want attention and how much. I think people tend to over pet which over stimulates them. When my cat comes to me, I pet a few times then stop. If she wants more, she will rub against me or turn to present an area. I pet a little then stop. We take it in stages until she is satisfied, then she will move on. I sometimes do scritches, combined with a few slow pets. I never pet quickly repeatedly. All my cats tend to prefer long slow strokes which put soothing energy into their bodies rather than strong energy. When you are petting a cat you are transfering energy from your body to theirs, they can only contain so much without it needing to be released. I almost never get a warning from a cat to stop the attention.

I have a house panther that’s pretty much like him. He chooses when he wants pets and surely lets you know when he’s had enough. He’s also sensitive towards the backend of him. He doesn’t walk around with his tail up at all. I’m glad you shared this video, it’s helpful!

We had a cat who had his rear attacked by a tomcat, and he held his tail down like that for a long time. He was extremely sensitive to anyone reaching back there for a few years. Jackson I think you nailed it yet again. Looking forward to Gato finding his forever home, he is so precious!!

Black cats are so special. First cat I adopted was a 10 year old black cat. I was blessed to have her in my life for 7 years

He DEFINITELY needs to see a vet for his back legs. Something probably happened to him while he was on the streets. BUT it's a great thing that he gets along with the kittens.

Jackson Galaxy, loved this. Great call and high praise for Michelle! I hope Gato get a furrever home with lots of sunny windows. Ideally, since he's so good with them, with someone who fosters kittens. Or at least a playful buddy.👍🏼🌊💙💙💙🌊🥰✌🏽

I have missed having you come up in my notifications. I hope you are all doing well. So glad Gato was given a chance to have a better life than begging for food. He sounds like a good candidate for a larger fostering home. He was really great with the babies as you said. Whatever his furever is, he will be a lovebug. Peace, love, and mojo, Jackson.

I'm so glad that the meds helped him so much! When you talked about the back end, pain of some kind was my very first thought. Thanks for helping him get a second chance!

The hanging tail reminds me of a cat we have at work, a very sociable, food-motivated, but not pettable, working cat (she will sit next to you and enjoy her meal, but no pets), we believe she got struck by a car lightly and managed to heal over time, but there definitely is something wrong with ther hips, she sometimes even limps. She already appeared with said condition and neutered at our company yard (her ear was clipped) and we never managed to catch her and take her to a vet

I think Gato is just like one of my cats. He likes to be around me, he likes to play, but he doesn't like to be touched. So imagine he is like a piece of art. Super cute to watch and hang out around, but don't touch it!

We have a stray cat colony at work. We feed 'em. Keep an eye on them. Do the trap-fix-release thing. Last spring there were kittens. Got em, got the mom, got a couple of others. The mom was injured and passed. The kittens were tiny and all lived, thrived, and were adopted. Others were fixed, dewormed, deflea'd, checked, and released... Except one. We had named him Shepard Cat. And the guys doing the treatment figured out Shepard liked people (probably was dumped). So we got him in a no-kill shelter. After three days, they re-named him "The Cat Who Gives Hugs." A week later he was in his forever home.

I have 8 cats, 3 are fosters. 5 are pure black, and 1 Tux [The Oldest Boy] and our Pure White one. 2 black and a White are 4 weeks old that were found without Mom. We think she was gotten by a Coyote. But my older cats aren't thrilled with them but my 5 month old and my 3 year old love/tolerate the babies. So, all the babies are taught younger children and other cats. I had a cat very similar to Gato, with his back legs and would get MAD if you touched her hips. We learned she had some Arthritis going on and we made her life comfortable. She passed 3 days ago at my Moms home. She couldn't live with kids anymore because kids upset her too much and she was 13. She had a short fuse but was the more beautiful calico. So, I watch my other cats cues when it comes to their joints. Especially my other old boy, the Tu.

I’m helping a tuxedo foster who’s also very feral and not socialized with humans and maybe not cats either! Nobody at the clinic was able to give him a real exam until I took him home and started treating his ringworm. He screams like a car alarm (for attention) and doesn’t know boundaries with my cat. He’s learning and now sits for food instead of pushing his face into my cat’s food. I totally agree with ignoring a feral cat even if he’s right next to me. Happy to share our journey if yall want to learn about him.

I've had my female cat Pearl since she was a kitten, her dad was feral. She does not like to be petted at all, but she loves to cuddle and sit next to me. She sleeps with me. I play with her all the time, I just respect her space. Love my baby Girl ❤❤ I hope Gato finds a lovely home that's suitable for him.

Thank you, Jackson. Great video, I learned a few things, which is always good. I'm a bit far away in Australia, otherwise I would love to give Gato a home. We have 5 fur-babies already, whats one more! Hopefully some kind soul will adopt him. To you & your friends, please keep up the good work. ❣

Aww, poor Gato. . .just too stiff to enjoy affection! One of our boys always has his tail down. . and is a little sensitive in the backend. . .but we more think its because something made him lose part of his tail, its shorter than it should be. He's incredibly respectful asking you to stop though, and he loves his butt scritches, we just make sure not to over do them. He's become such a sweet housecat over the last year and a half we couldn't imagine life without him.

I adopted a two year old female cat, and every time I went to pet her on the back, she tried to bite me. Eventually, we found out that someone had shot her twice with a pellet gun. She had two pellets in her back. She healed and ended up being our super sweetheart.❤

This gotta be my favorite episode of Galaxy so far. Stranger-friendly kitty that sometimes bites. There are many videos where the cause of bad behavior to me (as very cat person) was obvious, but this is one of the case where it really needed a professional. I bet the owner of cat cafe (bless em') learned as well as I did Also I love how only black cats were presented in this. Voids are so much fun to have irl, which I only understood after I got one. When owning multiple voids, it can sure be bit hardly tell to notice specific void among the abyss
