Honestly, this is the most comprehensive unity tutorial i watched. Most tutorials are like, "so like download this script and muh character controller". This actually explained how to do something in a way that's actually watchable without going on a twenty minute tangent that over complicates something as simple as a jump button. C# may be a step up; I'm not sure, since I could never really wrap my head around the usefulness of pointers in C++. At least in 6502 ASM, I can see the use.

@@Chaos89P they're useful if you need to write your own GC and without the distinction you cannot control whether data exists on the stack or heap. Structurally they help keep value type structures and polymorphic classes separate whereas in reference-type based languages there may not be a clear difference. Lastly pointers are useful for representing abstractions that are typically used by higher-level languages. For example I may have a C++ class. class Foo : public Bar, public Writable, public Printable You'd recognize the last two classes in this multiple inheritance as interfaces and with a pointer type we can safely enforce the interface... Foo* Example = new Foo(); Printable* pPrintable = dynamic_cast(Example); if(pPrintable){ pPrintable->Print(); } If it didn't implement the interface the cast would return NULL and the code wouldn't execute. This type of error checking isn't possible purely with value types.
