In regards to the backflow preventer, there should be a shutoff in the ground to cut water to it. After that, it’s important to know that there will still be water in the pipes. You’ll need to remove the bonnet/poppet assembly and siphon the remaining water out. Also, it was briefly mentioned, but it’s super important that if you use an absorbent material to wrap pipes (like a cotton towel), that you need to cover it with something moisture wicking (in his example a garbage bag). Reason being, if you wrap a towel on a pipe without protection and it gets wet, if it gets freezing, it will freeze the towel (cotton will absorb moisture), defeating the purpose of insulating it. Good luck and stay safe everyone!

Get a neighbor if you can to help you do all that needs to be done. Surely there is someone that will be able to help.

Who has a pool here? Lol FYI, wrapping something in a towel doesn't help if the pipe isn't making any heat on its own. That only works with freshly poured concrete because it generates heat. Wrapping something up doesn't keep it warm, because a towel isn't warm! It's not a human body. 😂
