NO SAG VERY STRONG DOOR - Build an Insulated Shed Door (20x30 shop)

In this video I build a door for my 20x30 workshop. The frame is 2x4 and 2x6 lumber. The interior is 1/2" plywood and the exterior is 1/4" Hardie Board concrete siding. The inside is insulated with 1" foam board.

I've never built a door but... Shouldn't the bottom of the door go all the way across with the sides resting on it?

That would be fine. With the concrete on the outside and plywood on the inside this door is super strong regardless of the bottom direction.

Any particular reason to build vs. prehung door?

I suppose: cost, Custom size, And the thrill of d. I. Y. This one was less than $80. An exterior door normally cost $300 up. A double starts at $ 1200 vs mine at $160

@sethcraftworkshop I'll be curious to see how you flash and seal around the door. I think bent steel or aluminum would work to cover the perimeter of the opening. Might want to cap the bottom from wicking up moisture too. I applaud the DIY mindset!
