We just bought an LG C1 and LG S90QY soundbar and an Apple TV 4K. Tonight, we tried to watch a movie on Netflix and it had no audio. I realized this only happens when the content is Dolby Atmos. We have the Soundbar connected to the tv on hdmi 2 so we can use E-Arc which is enabled on the C1. The HDMI audio format defaults to bitstream, which is what it should be on. When on bitstream, the Soundbar recognizes that the content is Dolby Atmos but won’t have any audio. However there is an option to make it PCM instead of bitstream. When I made it PCM, the Netflix movie audio worked but it was no longer Dolby Atmos. We want Atmos which means we need to be on bitstream. We also have the Digital Audio Output set to be on pass through instead of auto, which is also what is best for audio. Of course I tried auto and the issue still occurred. The Apple TV has Dolby Atmos turned on. The LG C1 has a setting to turn Dolby Atmos on or off but it’s grayed out since we aren’t using the TV speakers (even though it is On) This issue occurred on Netflix from Apple TV and WebOs. It also happened on Prime video. This proves the issue isn’t the Apple TV nor an app. The HDMI cords are brand new Audio Quest $100 cords. A complete rip off but certainly quality enough not to be causing this issue. How do I get Dolby Atmos to work so we can hear it on the LG Soundbar?

Hello, i have the Soundbar LG SN9YG and the Oled C2. The Problem on my Soundbar is, that the Subwoofer is disconnecting and reconnecting the whole time when watching KZbin or Netflix. The same doesn’t happen when watching cable TV, playing on the Ps5 or watching Blu-ray’s. Hope that you can help me with this, because I don’t want to use the tv speakers for Netflix and KZbin (or other streaming services).

I have a problem with my Lg BX 55 OLED TV and my sl5y soundbar when I watch movies the dialogue is really low compared to the action scenes , I also have the spk8 rear speakers , no matter what I try I can't seem to get it sorted , so I end up just switching it all off and continue to watch the movies with just the LG TV speakers , I'm close to just getting rid of the soundbar set-up

I purchased a LG C1 55in TV a few weeks ago and also grabbed a Sony x8500 Atmos soundbar. I have no idea why this is causing me such problems it's almost as if the HDMI port two for the arc on my TV is not recognizing the soundbar. I replaced this with a rather crappy one that sounded much better. So I don't know what's going on as I try to assign the HDMI port to the Soundbar but nothing spectacular. I also understand that there's not a lot of Atmos content but there's gotta be something very basic that I'm not doing right. Any suggestions?

Fixed my issue - too bad I didn't look up this video before I bought a new cable, but at least its fixed! On my bar I didn't have a mute button. Just had to use the power button on the sound bar itself.

set it to passthrough instead of auto to get full Dolby atmos and e arc enabled on . the digital output.

Thanks, I use a LG TV + Soundbar and Nvidia shield. For some reason the simplink option turns itself off and then there is no more sound through the arc. Just turning that back on through settings fixed it.

I will suggest connect them directly to the TV and let eARC carry the sound to the soundbar. This is what I prefer.

im hoping u see this! I just got the Sony soundbar HYX8500 its hdmi arc and its in the correct hdmi on my tv for arc. But no SOUND ny no name soundbar us hdmi arc as well and works sound plays, settings are all correct but once i plug in the new sony soundbar 0 sound, all settings are correct and hdmi arc all correct. Bluetooth works, tv remote even works with the soundbar but no sound coming out. Ive even tried unplugging, shutting everything off and on etc i have the LG 60UH6030

Hey bro I have the LG SP8YA soundbar I just got it last week. It’s an amazing soundbar, to me it’s better than my previous Samsung soundbar. I have it connected to my LG Oled C1 77”. I recently been having an issue with the Subwoofer. It keeps disconnecting. I love to hear Dolby Atmos content on KZbin or on movies. For some reason I can hear when the subwoofer stops functioning I tested it out by watching Dolby Atmos content on KZbin. It disconnects every 5 seconds or 10 seconds. I was hoping that by following your instructions could reset my lg soundbar connection with the subwoofer tried it but it did not work. By any chance do you know why it keeps disconnecting? Or do you know how to reset subwoofer especially for my model?

I will say look for the instructions about just SN8YA and see what can you do to reconnect the Sub to the soundbar and ultimately reset. Also make sure the distance between the soundbar and sub is not more than 3 meters

Older Soundbars like Sk10y needs "Tv sound mode share" for Dolby atmos passthrough. Xbox Series X works with that. If that option "off" no Dolby Atmos.

If you didn't know by know. Arc is better, also allows control of the sound bar/receiver through the TV.

Arc has multiple sound formats including Dolby Atmos, DTSX, etc. Optical only has DTS and Dolby Digital.

It means you can only change the volume via the soundbar remote. In the advanced Sound settings you can activate using the Magic Remote to change the volume of the soundbar.

I have LG model SN8YG, works good until my program returns from a commercial. Intermittently. Not every time. Happens on all apps and antenna, too. I power down the soundbar then turn it back on again, OR unplug the HDMI cable then plug it back in. Either of These two actions bring the sound back on. There is a firmware update fix but it is for a different model (SJ8). Searched LG website for firmware update for my model, but none available. Maybe I will trash this one and buy a new one from a different manufacturer. Remember, LG means Life's Good.
