As someone who plays closer to the middle of Infinite, this entire podcast feels like it came from an alternate dimension. Yesterday I played against Hela *23* times in about 2 hours, it's as if Leech did *nothing* to her, except now I get to lose instantly on Turn 4 for daring to play anything not Meta-defining like Surfer, Bounce, or Move when it isn't her. I'm glad y'all are loving it, and the rest of the buffs are definitely slick, but I cannot describe the depths to which this OTA has hurt the fun I can have in Marvel Snap.

100% agree. You watch the tippy top stream and they see repeating opponents. It's such a different meta.

Hela still has an incredibly good win rate and cube rate too. Jeff Hoogland had a really good take imo about how leech is not very effective against Hela b/c it gives all the information to the Hela player, so when leech is effective they just retreat and lose 1 or 2 cubes, but if they top deck the hela after the Leech then they get to just blowout the Leech player for more cubes. I'm in the same boat as you, I just came back to Marvel Snap a couple months ago and have been having a blast, but the change to Leech and upgrade to Hela from Blink has really narrowed what's playable in the meta when just last month it felt like anything was available. i'll probably be taking another break till the next OTA or patch.

I have to disagree about Leech answering Hela and Anni. Without Leech showing which cards he hit you are still at their mercy. Because you don’t know if your Leech hit any of the targeted cards you will lose a ton of cubes. It’s bait

I think hela is everything wrong with this game. Takes all the skill of location mitigation, mind games, jockeying priority, using tech etc etc etc and throws it to the wind with “lol stats gg” I LOVE this leech change. Having a proactive tech card that not only kills hela but can actively disrupt someone setting up a key prof x / anni / cannonball turn feels really good. And I’ve still been beaten by hela after leech missed. so it feels fair, it's just nice to have options. i was getting close to taking the month off from this game before this change.

Hela might just be getting misplayed rn. Turns out the black cat stuff was just never good bc a 0/9 that can't get brought back after discarding hela to glave is actually just a 0/0. The core package of hela cards is actually hela, blink and ghost rider. I’m here because I heard from KMBest that Lamby’s all-in Ultron deck does the thing better! (Seriously, banning that guy was messed up, he said nothing about how your deck sucked or even that it was worse. Whether you meant to or not, that kind of reaction intimidates people into silence about discussing alternative deck designs. It’s good “social skills” to recognize when you are projecting your own sensitivities onto others.)

@@jaredgray9403 You didn’t do anything wrong. KM usually tries to do the right thing by his viewers, so maybe he’ll apologize to you…? 🤷 I feel bad for him too. But he could have answered simply as he did here-that you’re right, but he wants to trade “doing the thing better” for a better matchup with meta villain Loki. As for commenting on Twitch, the thing to remember is that most content creators just aren’t normal-they usually feel drawn to content creation because of a shocking lack of ability to self-validate. That means their sensitivities are very particular. Whereas a normal person can derive satisfaction from simply playing a game-_they_ need to be _seen_ playing the game and receive _external approval_ for doing so. Sadly, this is taught to (abused into) children from a very young age by parents and schools. They don’t understand _not_ having this need, which is why they call catering to it “manners” or “social skills”. Heck, in another recent podcast, KM and a fellow content creator dismissed the idea of playing games like Snap for fun and said the real reason is to beat others and show your dominance, and had difficulty even _conceiving_ of the type of players who, for example, choose conquest over the leaderboard. These kind of people live in fear of rejection or being told their accomplishments aren’t good enough, and so need constant reassurance or, when frightened, they may interpret _anything_ as the personal rebuke they’ve been trained from toddlerhood to expect and dread. It’s a sensitivity worthy of sympathy, but you needn’t cater to it. It’s not your fault.
