I have a 95 Sheraton I recently upgraded the tuners and put in a new nut to improve tuning stability. I have been toying with idea of a pickup upgrade after all these years but amazing guitar really. 27 years and it's never needed a single repair other than occasional set ups etc.

I've got this guitar's wine-red version, and it's a beast. To make it a jack of trades I suggest these upgrades: Grover 502G Locking Tuners Roller Bridge Dussenberg Les Trem II String Butler V4 All these mods give it amazing tuning stability, and adding a trem in tandem with the push/pull pots makes for an extremely versatile guitar.

To me, the Epiphone Sheraton is equivalent or (slightly) better than the Gibson ES-335.
@josephlerz6889 Жыл бұрын
their the best budget 335's in my opinion, and superior to Gibson based on value
@tenniswilliam14 күн бұрын
I have two Sheratons and they are great and I have a Gibson 335. The Gibson is better sounding and better feel and better fit and finish. It is however 5 x the price.

Just bought one, USA made, doesn't an ebony fretboard but could always try to upgrade later or something 🤷♂️ Just couldn't NOT get it for $1100 lol

Now the big question is this guitar or do I buy the epiphone es 335 pro over it.......
@williamsimmons51634 ай бұрын
The answer is: no you do not! I have owned and played both. The Sheraton is much livelier and more inspiring. I really can’t explain the difference as I believe they have the same pickups. But the is a notable difference. I started off with the Sheraton and after a couple of trades got the 335. Recently got my hands on another Sheraton and couldn’t be happier! Plus it’s just a sexier looking guitar.

Would you reccomend me to trade my mexican jazzmaster for the sheraton?
@PeachGuitars2 жыл бұрын
I don't think we can really make an honest recommendation on this I'm afraid, Emiliano. They are both very different guitars and which is most suitable for you is a very personal question, the Sheraton II Pro is a fantastic guitar though and if you decide to get your hands on one you won't be disappointed!

The Korean made Epiphones are not better than the Epiphones today not even close..the Qingdao Epiphone facility is State of the Art and is Run and supervised by American Master Builder Scott Lewis and American luthiers..the Asian luthiers there have no less than 10 years experience..the Qingdao facility only crafts Epiphone brands no outside brands are made in the Qingdao facility..Scott Lewis has been at the Qingdao Epiphone facility since 2002 and with Gibson 46 years..he's considered one of the best..

Are any of these guitars made in Korea still or did they all move to China?
@workaccount24152 жыл бұрын
China I believe but I really don't think that myth of 15 year old korean guitars being better is true, just test it in the shop and if you like it buy it. One thing I don't like about new ones is the fretboard wood but that's an issue across the entire market

@@tomsnow2872 Forum post from 2012 - "To muddy up the waters even more, Sheratons are currently still being made in Korea by Unsung, while past Korean versions have been made by Samick, Saein, and Unsung. Interestingly, it seemed like production had completely switched to China, but now within the past few months I've seen new Korean Unsungs in stock at both Sweetwater & MF, along with the Chinese version. They are made in the Qingdao Epiphone facility by American Master Builder Scott Lewis and American luthiers also at the facility..Scott Lewis has been at the Qingdao Epiphone facility for years and he has been with Gibson/Epiphone 46 years

@@tomsnow2872 : I owned several korean epi's when they were new. The chinese ones are mostly the same, it's just that all the bad korean ones have been to a luthier once in their life to level frets etc or have been binned or are in storage somewhere not being played. They weren't all good, some were and some werent....just like today. But I agree on the fretboard wood (laurel), it looks hideous and feels terrible. But it is what it is.

They should make these with ebony board ,no white around the triangles in the inlay on the neck,colored triangles only and black blank truss rod cover and take the E off the puckguard..before they'd sell more
