Why did you throw the glass in the woods where you, a deer or some other critter could step on it? I would bring it in for now on. They feel pain just like we do.

Just curious, how many pounds to the acre do you broadcast your buckwheat
@wisconsinwhitetail9744Күн бұрын
Anywhere’s from 75-100lbs. Buckwheat is kinda pricey, you can plant it lighter around 50lbs but then more weeds come in.

Yes it like a big KZbin dude saying deer do not like Kale. Great video
@wisconsinwhitetail974411 ай бұрын
I’ve never heard anyone talking about deer not eating kale. I have noticed that they generally don’t start hitting my kale and rape until around November but you will see a few plants here and there right now that are browsed too.

Seeing a lot of inert matter in those seed blends.

I haven’t had any issues with extra weed seed being in these blends

Curiously, why aren't you using Northwoods seed? You are right there in Wisconsin. Although Antler king is also from Wisconsin I believe?
@wisconsinwhitetail974411 ай бұрын
I used their sweet feast brassica blend a couple times and didn’t like all the brassicas that went out to seed and got like 4-5ft tall. Plus the black seed was harder to tell how much I was putting out. Easier to overseed.

Where do you get your buckwheat seed? Just got some new property and looking for some ideas for next season. Good luck this fall!
@wisconsinwhitetail974411 ай бұрын
I get it from my local ag Co-Op. No matter where you buy it buckwheat is definitely pricey. I think I paid around $40 for a 50 pound bag

@@wisconsinwhitetail9744 is it possible to harvest the seed by hand to keep for the following year ?

If you haven’t already you should try real worlds deadly dozen I am trying it this year for the first time

I see that blend has oats, sugar beets and peas along with brassicas. I’m going to stick with my blends and add in winter rye when I need to. I want to get as much kale/ rape and turnips and radish that I can grow in small plots so they last long Into the winter.

When did you spray these before you planted

Sprayed right after crushing. Same day.

@@wisconsinwhitetail9744 so u seed it first crush it then spray right , I did that on my farm have not been back since I did. Can’t wait to get there and see how it did. Hopefully this weekend or next

If you're strictly planting to feed the deer, I wouldn't really care if the plot has weeds in it or not!!
@wisconsinwhitetail974411 ай бұрын
Yes the deer eat weeds. They actually love water hemp which is the main weed in my plots. But I want little to no weeds because all they do is limit my brassica growth. I want as much fall and winter food I can grow.
