We're in our fifth year of sun grown no till living soil here in northern MI. Started our 100 gal pots with 1/3 composted cow manure, 1/3 Pro Mix, 1/3 large perlite. Have had good success just top dressing with lots of Uncle Jim's worm castings and Roots Organic Uprising dry amendments (all three parts). Using mostly rain water with some well water. We use straw for a mulch layer but want to get into cover crops. Been a beautiful grow season, girls are frosty and getting some nice fall colors on the Red Congolese and Ice Cream Cake. Happy harvest growmies!

I also don’t quite understand what you meant when you said I choose the pro mix with less perlite for a notill approach , less perlite means more compaction, less oxygen , which in notill can only get worse so it doesn’t make sense to me that you would choose the mix with less areation… also pumice is a great substitute for perlite , it doesn’t flow up to the top thats its main advantage .. I would say more aeration is better in notill , choosing a less perlite in your case would be setting youself up for soil compaction and problems …

For Organic/Natural No Till soils, MIRACLE GRO and DOTS(I got some to try separately for one plant, though) and other MINERAL SALT NUTRIENTS WILL KILL OFF WHAT NO TILL RELIES ON! Much Respect for trying The No Till, just only use Organic/Natural ingredients. BAS's 3.0 is Excellent though! I've been using their Craft Blend, in a Super Soil kind of mix, along with "Mankind's Canna Soil" Nutrient mix, from eBay, which is excellent for No Till. These two mixes each had over 10-12 different sources of nutrients, leading to incredible diversity. I'm still growing with a Peat based mix/EWC/Perlite/some Coco, other nutrients in 3 gallon felt pots. Great advice here! Sounds like you're doing everything perfect, except Mineral Salts/Non Organics(but maybe you've changed that, and I missed it..?). Sounds like you watch The Build A Soil channel..? They're doing exactly what you're practicing, and they're really great people. Just in case you're not watching it, you'll love the channel, I promise! Have a great, growing weekend!👍

@slackjaw I care about flavor, smell, and burn. That's why I grow synthetic. I also care about the environment. I believe it produces superior quality in every way, which is why I do it. I also know other folks get their best results with other methods. Different strokes for different folks.

@@scottfree6479 unless you tried both, i cant believe anything you say without seeing and trying your product Every grower says his stuff is the best stuff, its just too much ego involved Every single organic grower says organic gives best flavour and best smoke, and the synthetic guys say the opposite And the good weed you get, you never know how it is made
@scottfree6479

@@backbone93 I never said my stuff was the best stuff, I just prefer synthetic. I studied chemistry in college and I know how it works. It's easy to use, clean, and effective. I don't care what style you use, but mine works very well for me. I don't understand why people are pretentious about this. Just relax man, it's all about life, growing, and nurturing these wonderful plants. As long as your method makes you happy what else matters?
@backbone93
@backbone93 Жыл бұрын
@@scottfree6479 "i studied chemistry" is not a very telling or convincing argument You speak like you got it figured out, like every single grower on the internet does, organic guys swear it gives the best taste,... Synthetic growers also say the same The difference in my observation is that organic growers dont do it for yield but synthetic growers do So the logical conclusiin would be synthetical growers are using confirmation bias to convince themselves they got the best product or the best way But at the same time i often get good weed which probably grown synthetically I just wonder why is there so much garbage products on the market? And why are the no manuals on how to grow good stuff, if so many people can do it? Im not here to challenge you or something, i wanna learn But if 10 people tell you 10 different, opposite things, thats hard The more i research the less i know about these things,and the less sure i am in what to do, or what to try I feel like most of the stuff is misinformation and exactly what you say, pretentious I wanna grow better products, i did synthetic and organic, organic does taste a little bit better, does yield less in MY expirience, but i find it really hard to get a grip on some trustworthy valid information Most is just people claiming theyr way is the best way and then saying "but you can so it how you want "tHatS jUst hOw i dO iT" That sounds so unproffessional and pretentious Those people just want clicks, they dont care about informing you

I agree with most things .. But at least from my experience fox farm is a bad soil , the burn you see is not from nutrients in the soil , its because its a very low quality soil that has tons of sodium excesses and heavy metal excesses that are burning your plants, making nutrients harder to access , and especially seedlings don’t like it … I use Build A Soil all around plus BAS products , and I used to use lots of fox farm … its literally like a night and day difference , the 3.0 blend has a bucket load more ingredients than fox farm and I plant seedlings right into that and they don’t burn , so fox farm is not hot at all , its just an unbalanced , cheap commercial soil full of excesses and it actually doesn’t have barely any nutes in it , it has enough bat guano to last 20-30 days so really not that much , thats barely a half cup of bat guano per bag , ridiculously low in nutrients ! The build a soil is literally the way to go , may cost you a little more upfront but the soil is perfectly balanced and you can run it forever . I have x4 15 gallons and do notill I’m on my 4th round and never had major issues at all , the runs get better and better each time , bigger juicer nugs each run ! All documented on the channel ! You are running it with local forest soil and that will improve it much , immagine if you do what you are doing which is great and just use build a soil instead of fox farm , you would see stellar improvements I think .. Thank You for this episode , great video !! Cheerz bros 🔥🔥💨💨

Hydrogen peroxide 2 tablespoons in a gallon and flush after you use the first gallon I would flush about 3 gallons to every 1 gallon that is mixed with hydrogen peroxide also depending on how big your pot is to kill fungus gants
