As a looooong time Bond fan, especially Bond themes, I knew when they announced Billie along with Finneas were doing this Bond theme, an honour at such young age... I knew it was a great choice & knew it would be one of the better ones, I can’t say which is the best lyrically, majority have words to fit title of film, musically my Fav / best for me is License to kill, not so keen on lyrics. This certainly is a good Bond theme lyrically & definitely musically

This might be reading into things but hear me out, “everything we know is about to change” if we really look at the past Bond songs the lyrics in some way connect to the plot of the movie. Billie’s new song mentions more than once about “fool me once, fool me twice” “you never on my side” the whole song to me seem like an ode to Vesper who we last saw in Casino Royale. Malek’s character who has “been watching him from the beginning” perhaps saved an injured Vesper to once again use her against Bond?? Idk just thinking out loud

Injured Vesper? Mate, Vesper was literally dead. Bond was right there, he did his best to revive her, but it was too late. Randomly making her live would absolutely ruin all the emotional weight.

Bruce Snow, it’s true she was dead but perhaps Safin could know more about Vesper and link her that way? This film is meant to tie all the Craig films together so it would make sense to have Vesper to return in some way, she was where it all started and Bond never really got over her death. Safin could also have some way that she is alive, like how he suggests in the line “only your skills die with your body, mine will survive long after I’m gone”. I’d be surprised if they went down that route though
