Props for going that route with the quarters, I couldn’t do what you did so I went the proper route of purchasing oem wheel wells and quarters. Ordered the parts in December 2021 thru my independent and two weeks later they arrived. If I could recommend one thing, when the car is painted remove the rear interior panels/access panels and the trunk side panels/sound isolation and spray 3M cavity wax to the back side of the arches. That will help with rust forming from the inside out. You took the steps of protecting the bare metal from the outside, a lot of people don’t think about protecting the inside. Nice work overall, I can’t wait to see the car fully painted. You got my subscription.

Great content as always! One small note on safety though... I took a class on welding in my university, and have learnt that doing MIG welding with the nozzle that far from the surface is not gonna get you enough gas coverage. That means your welds could potentially not penetrate enough into the body material (could cause failure down the road). Just pointing it out since the welds breaking in the future could cause you serious headache with rust. Otherwise, great stuff!

Can I ask what three products you used there in particular? The black sealer for the cuts, the spray on the bare metal, and I assume the last is just automotive epoxy?

When cutting do you leave the oem bracket that bolts the bumper to fender alone? Or that would also need to be cut out for fitment and a new bracket would have to be made?
@ThicWhips Жыл бұрын
We left it alone, I’ve seen some people cut them but I don’t think it’s necessary. I MIGHT shave it just a hair for more clearance later. We’ll see once I throw wheels/tires on

You say that like it’s some easy effortless task 😂 Fiberglass flares are on hundreds of cars, works fine. Look at rwb porsche

True True but I'm near damed sure there's somewhere over here in Europe that does metal ones. One good thing they won't be bubbling in 6 months from rust lol
@thegeneral8019 Жыл бұрын
Nice result but you would have been better to get a sheet metal fabricator to make you up a pair of steel flares using the fibreglass ones as templates.
