No Venue Is Beneath You! (If you have cool pedals...)

Need a pedal with cool lights that you can use in a dark venue? And when I say 'dark venue', I mean the tunnels that run under the 101 Freeway in southern California. The Hotone Tuner Press combines a volume / expression pedal with a chromatic / strobe tuner AND a signal chain buffer. It was one of my favorite new pieces of gear I saw at this year's NAMM convention.

My first reverb was a large drainage pipe across from where I lived. So this brought back some long ago memories from when I first stated to play guitar. Oh the pedal is a cool idea. 🎸

We have some abandoned tunnels on the old Pa Turnpike, it's only a few hours away from where I live.

my friend and I had a "van band", we would drive around town in his Volkswagen van with a drumset in the back which I would play and he would play his keyboard that was velcroed to the dashboard and connected to his sound system, the windows go all the way around those old vans so everyone could see the both of us... we would pull up in front of people sitting outside of Starbucks and other establishments and improvise some cosmic jazz for a couple of minutes and then drive off...

This upload is straight out of the Jem and the holograms film adaptation by Jonathan M Cho. The title characters do three pop-up concerts in live settings which, behind the scenes, are all made out of alleyways and back streets in Southern California instead of actual live venues. There’s definitely creative planning involved in turning a spot like this into a live performance environment.

The pedal should have a large lithium battery in the bottom half so that it can also be used as a 9v power bank to power other pedals. There is probably plenty of space inside the casing for a big battery.

That's a great idea! Although I did open the unit up, to look at the buffer circuit, and there's not as much space in there as it seems. Maybe could still fit something though.

Pedals that combine multiple functions can be very useful since pedalboard space is so limited! I like the Hotone stuff - I bought their mini 3-in-1 wah/volume/expr pedal that I was just barely able to squeeze onto my board...

Yeah that's kinda cool but man I like stomping on a huge pedal for Volume and Wah that's why i rock Morely Pedals. You can put all your weight on them and they have a nice big sweep. The Wah i just step off and it goes back to zero. Just what I like. It would be cool to go to the entrance of that tunnel with a couple Marshall Full Stacks and just start jamming and see what comes out the other side of the tunnel😆

Pretty cool but the pedal should be a little wider to give more easy access foot room with the tuner display. Seems too easy to go to tune then have to readjust your foot because it's over the tuner display. Basically, when you go to use the pedal - using it to tune or not - your foot should not be over the display.
