Ok. I am a structural design engineer that works for a major commercial airplane manufacturer. Let me point out the impracticality of this premise. Planes are not designed like submarines. They are built to withstand an internal positive pressure, not an external pressure. An air-filled pocket would have collapsed the bulkhead within a few seconds and just a few meters of depth. This film has lost me on that alone.

You are not a "structural design engineer". No engineer would fail to understand such basic physics. The "bulkhead" (you meant fuselage) would not collapse because the pressure on both sides is equal. I could take a plastic bag down 30 meters and it would not collapse because the pressure is equalized. As pressure increases the air compresses. This makes the air pocket smaller while keeping the pressure inside and outside equal. This requires an opening where water can enter the plane, which is clearly shown in the trailer You can prove this with a simple experiment. Fill up a sink with water, then take a sandwich bag (or other small plastic bag) and hold it open with the opening downwards (towards the water). Then gently pull the bag down into the water. You'll see it maintains the air bubble without collapsing because water pressure from beneath compresses the air to an equal pressure to the downward pressure of water above

There's a great deal of reality-mocking I can ignore for the sake of entertainment -- space battles would indeed be dull without sounds; it doesn't bother me at all when a muscle-bound hunk with a hammer can bend lightning to his will; of course a hand-held device that emits a deadly light sword emits a beam of light that's only a meter long -- but sometimes you have to take a stand. Exhibit A: a plane fuselage, apparently containing enough air to keep its passengers alive for the duration of the film, nevertheless sinks to the bottom of the ocean. Screw you, buoyancy! Caveat: Yes, I probably will watch this some day on Netflix, if only to point and laugh.
