Yeah in hindsight, but god at the time it’s sucked, felt like a step back from clone wars and the action figures went from really good to 5poa bad time to be a Star Wars kid( I was 7 at the time) same thing happened with transformers, went from Prime to RID 2015

I still prefer Clone Wars a little bit since it hits much higher highs in my opinion but the highs Rebels reaches are nothing to sneeze at either. It’s still a really great show and honestly much more consistent on the quality spectrum than Clone Wars in terms of the episodes.

I remember not liking this show when I first started watching it, I kept comparing it to TCW and how it had better animation and was an anthology unlike rebels which is a main character focused show with a downgraded animation. Also I assumed it was too kid friendly and cartoonish at first but then I looked back and realized all of star wars is like this as well, and the show did have It’s dark moments that I regretfully ignored. Today I’ve grown to love it, especially when you realized its based of the OG trilogy’s concept art and the humor is so much like the films.

Star Wars rebels is by far my favourite Star Wars. This and the clone wars really hits deep for me. The expansion on them with the Ashoka series and the bad batch series. Really make it so much special. Then seeing the mandalorian to top it all off. Truly is a work of art ❤

It turned a decade a few days ago, and while some of the 3D art of the show is......well offputting, it's an extreme underrated show that, while flawed, had so much good stuff in it, and was the first property on screen since....well ROTS to showcase the unstoppable wrath and power of Vader himself and not turn him into a big joke like Legends kinda made him be due to the inconsistent writing for him back then.

This, Vader showing up could be FELT, and him being way out of the crews league by a mile further solidified his showing. Then you had his appearance at the temple, and him owning the scene...and THEN you get Ahsoka showing up and giving us a full circle from the Clone Wars, and a standoff that is only beat out by Obi-wan vs Maul for the raw emotion and story behind it.

One of the problems I had with the show was the different animation style. I had grown so used to the Clone Wars and it's style, Rebels felt a downgrade from that. But of course, as the series progressed the animation became second and the story took the spotlight. And while I still feel there was something missing or vice-versa (too much of something), I find it to bee a good show indeed. Now that some time has passed, one can really appreciate their effort in creating something slightly different but still unique in it's own way. Plus, some of the themes and topics that they put in the show rise up to the level of CW for sure (opinion, please don't shoot me 😅).

I was hesitant at first about Rebels. I don't think I was captivated until I heard about Ahsoka fighting Vader. Then the tear jerking episodes in the last season really made me realize just how much I enjoyed the show. I wish I had more Star Wars content like that. Clone Wars and Rebels seem to be only shows that do that for me. Not to say that Bad Batch is bad, it just doesn't hit that chord. It hit a different that is reminiscent in another aspect of my life.

I have always prefered the art style of Rebels to the 2008 Clone Wars. (and that is not nostalgia talking. I had no idea there were any Star Wars shows outside the movies, Lego spin offs and Angry Birds until about late 2019 and even then I thought it was a fan film.) I generally prefer the more realistic look of Rebels compared to the 2008 Clone Wars.

In my personal subjective opinion: This art style would work in the show, if it was 2d animated/handrawn instead of 3d animated. I would personally prefer if they just stuck with the clone wars art style but that's just me. Also guys, the thin lightsabers isn't a big deal, they had thin lightsabers in the original trilogy and I think this is just paying homage to it as it is the same era.
