Even though the NOAA Fisheries are intruding on the natural habitats of these marine animals for commercial purposes, the method that they use to do so seems to be very effective and promotes the least amount of damage to the ecosystem as possible. They are working to generate a profit, their fishing methods aren't done careless and they work to keep the public well informed about the proper way to care for the environment.

If fish and other ocean wildlife are to be taken on a commercial basis, they ought to at least be kept local and not exported around the world to fill luxury tastes. NOAA funding is not sufficient to carry out the full body of scientific work necessary to make decisions about sustainability. They need to err on the side of caution while helping promote more tourism to coastal areas where the catch of the day truly is local and sustainable.
