After watching the movie I really began to understand her mother. When she met Noah and heard about his job it brought a bit of a bitter feeling to her past, as she had the same experience with her parents not wanting to marry a boy similar to Noah. A poor lumber worker who had a heart of gold. As for her father much respect for sticking up for him, and honestly feel he respected Noah for at least having a job and loving his daughter for who she was.

The dad was a sweetheart really there was multiple times the daddy showed that he didn't care were noah was from. Like when he first invited noah to this when allie walks into the house he laughted and said o boy. Then again Ann this conversation is too stuffy for the dinner table. I dont believe once in the movie the dad ever said anything that would suggest he felt noah wasn't good enought. I think the dad thought it was just a summer romance just let them be and it will fizzle out in time. it was the mother n he just went along with it.
