Why you didn't you ask Chomsky a follow up question on France's re-election of Macron after the massive demonstrations by yellow vests against Macron's policies. It doesn't make sense that same people who protested aggressively against a president vote for him again. He always rightfully discusses the role of business class minority in rigging the worker's rights over the years but never does he discusses the other half of the picture which is the role of the worker's majority in aiding abetting them against their own interests.

@@globobai Macron's re-election makes perfect sense when you look at how the French presidential elections work. They have a 1st round with about a dozen candidates, if no one gets over 50% the 2 candidates with the most votes go for a run off. Usually around 25% is enough to go into the run-off and this time it was between Macron and the fascist LePen with the left-wing candidate getting only fractionally fewer votes than LePen. Some of the ones who don't make it endorse a specific candidate of the last two and others just said 'anything but LePen' but the result is that the eventual winner is a candidate that around 75% of the electorate did NOT want to be president, they just rather have Macron than a LePen. When LePen's father got into the run-off the winning slogan was 'Vote for the fraudster, not the fascist'.

He`s a fake and they fell for it. He just acknowledged in court that he was a star and stars can just grab pussy throughout history. Actually, he said a million years ago which means he doesn`t read the bible, but do you think that matters to his Christian base? The differenc between Left and Right is hardly trivial when it comes to the politics involved. After all, Trump and Biden couldn't possibly be more different from each other when you examine the sorts of results achieved for America by each President. As men, maybe they're not too different. But what they believe and how they each proceed is drastically different. In short, Chomsky is dead wrong. Biden is the worst thing which ever happened to the USA. His party does everything possible to dismantle the nation as established, meaning the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. Those two documents tell us who we are. Or at least, what we used to be up until 10 or 15 years ago, because now we have the very worst anti-Americans among us living on home soil, meaning those damn Democrats. That's right, the worst enemies of the USA are indeed the Democrats. Biden is nothing but a goddamn puppet president. A total Puppet Fool. Yank his strings, and watch him squirm. And on top of everything else, Biden is a racist. After all, he once said this on camera ... "If you don't vote for me, then you ain't black!" Trump helped us by lowering taxes. But Biden fucks us. He makes doing business for oneself a royal pain in the ass because of endless regulations which accomplish nothing but gridlock for the economy. Trump also achieved the lowest unemployment rates in untold decades for minorities. Trump served the little people, and old Joe only pretends to serve the little people while hiding behinds his million$. Who knows who has Jeffrey Epstein's stuff for Teflon, Don? Christians, being void of quality-control, are vexed by the fact we use voting as a quality-control, and no one wants a leader guiding as if travel was best done with one foot in fantasyland, guided by a deity who can't make people aware of itself outside of fiction. A deity failing to make everyone aware, fudges the title. Christians assure themselves of having been delegated authority from a deity to spin The Divine shortcomings & be taken seriously too. The very good reason why Christians are ignored, avoided like the old woman with 400 pet cats, is we have quality-controls like voting for our leaders. No one wants a leader suggesting we travel with one foot in fantasyland. Christians, authorized by themselves, speak boldly, weighing-in on whatnot as if Earth had gravity-free zones & magic. The same deity we know for a perfect record of doing nothing, is adored & a servant for unmeasurable prayers, rather than a tool of fiction. That is why we say, God helps those helping themselves, a house divided cannot stand & Jesus says, think not I come with peace, but sword & a wicked generation seeks signs. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Getting directions from fantasyland works well for fascists, authoritarians. So, marvel not it is said, you must be born again, astounding rubbish is such that every Alex Jones in the country knows enough Jesus-lingo to put in the sales-pitch. Theology Lesson for Beings of Spirit / The Obvious Stuff One can make a spectacle of dressing, like boasting in the temple for everyone to see. Christians lure some, but insult others in public: As if those condemned to voting as a quality-control, would have any desire for leadership with one foot in fantasyland. These are the wolves in sheep's clothing, Think not they come with peace, but sword. A house divided, cannot stand. We say, God helps those helping themselves, The same deity of fiction, well-known for a perfect record of doing nothing, is their object of worship, a servant for unmeasurable prayers. Christians pass by with audacious boasting, having zero quality-control: Convinced we are all gods, children of the highest god. Theologians grant doctorates to each other based on nothing whatsoever. Deities apparently delegate Their authority & recordkeeping. We marvel at their ultimate conceit, We avoid them like the old woman with too many cats. We know a tree by the fruit, the man by his works, We thank god, secular law and order finally ended the witch-killing & inquisitions. We all citizens forced to render to Caesar. * History Lesson for Beings of Spirit There is no evidence Democracy works at scale. Not with endless wars, & too big to fail. The science of greenhouse gases was ignored. Now, is "too late" - 1979. Biden just opened up places to drill, as if Limits to Growth had not predicted our worst path. The only difference between a Republican & Democrat is how fast the knee hits the floor, when a donor walks in the room. The State is not a rational actor. The State has known this crisis & peak oil production was expected around the year 2000, after we passed peak oil (good quality oil) discoveries in 1956. The state has never acted green because the only questions about how soon global heating would be an extinction crisis beyond control, was would we have enough energy & civilization enough to get there or here. “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.” All prophets are ravenous wolves, false prophets, prophesy being a tool of fiction. Christians have a problem in that they lack quality-control & voters prefer not electing someone with one foot in that fantasyland guiding us. Any deity, not making awareness of itself completely, lacks authority for the title.

Anything that is morally questionable in the US is going to be 10 times worse in the countries. I will bet you my life savings on that. Think waterboarding was bad? His message has been consistent for years. Noam is a humble scholar who has spoken about the demise of our political system through years of subservience to the multi-national corporations. Ralph Nader once said: “the difference in the Republican and Democratic parties is the speed with which they drop to their knees when their business donors come calling”. Chomsky has said as much for many years.

We listen but as he said, we’re up against criminals who don’t follow the law. How do you protest against criminals in uniforms with guns? The working poor are harassed daily by criminal gangs called police. If you talk about it, you’re stomped on by the sheep who don’t know their own lives and liberties are under attack by these criminals they praise. I could go on but it is exhausting. Mind you, our system of government was forced on the inhabitants of this land in a criminal manner. Our government never was legitimate or legal from the POV of the native peoples who actually didn’t cause the climate change crisis.

Fascinating interview with Noam Chomsky. A lot of what he said echoes thoughts in my own mind about poltics in the U.S. and in my own community. I feel shitty because when I was younger I used to pay lip sevice to Chomsky as a liberal, and now as an older person in my 40's a lot of what he says just seems like something I would have been into and could have learned from. The first interesting thing that stood out for me is when Mr. Chomsky calls Democrats & GOP both pro business and the GOP the more pro business of the two, but that they are just factions of the same party.

He explains it pretty well I think. It's bc most Americans are in a cycle of fighting in a class war, where the more-leaning business class (Republicans) undermine the vote and do what's necessary to keep the attention away from social-economic changes. And they do so very adamantly so people spend all their time defending these ideas while simultaneously trying to survive with what little they make. This is even a bit eye opening to me tbh and I live in the US

There was an economic system that worked after ww2 and until the monstrous spike in oil in the early 1970’s. Private sector wages were protected by laws that assured a strong union presence that even helped to lift the wage of non-union workforce. Reagan was elected in 1980 and led the charge that did the following: greatly reduced taxes for the mega rich, weakened private sector unions thru NLRB and Federal Court Judges that were sympathetic to the needs and desires of employers and reinstituted massive deficit spending which shifts most of the burden to our grandchildren and great grandchildren.

If people decide, ‘I am willing to be a danger to the community by refusing to vaccinate,’ they should say then, ‘Well, I also have the decency to isolate myself. I don’t want a vaccine, but I don’t have the right to run around harming people.’ That should be a convention,” said Chomsky. “Enforcing is a different question.
