Nobara's death has definitely shaken up the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom and even made some people stop watching the series all together, I am one of the people who think even if Nobara has to meet her end it could have been handled better leading up to that point and in this video I go over that.

One choreography way to make Nobara's fate more understandable would have been to have her just barely make it down the stairs with just enough time to realize Yuji was there before Mahito touched her. If the timeframe had been very similar to how they portrayed Choso noticing Yuji when he jumped down the stairs, nobody would be dissatisfied

In CSM CSM manga spoilers; Aki and Power where quite literally getting character development upto or even after they died, like with Power. Akis brain was still getting jogged by the Gun Devil taking control, still leaving part of his brain alive for him to experence fight Denji while he was switching inbetween his memories of his brother confusing him with Denji... He had such a meaningful conlusion to his character, as he had finally started find joy in life after being stuck in the past, symbolized by him starting to play catch with his brother again. Same with Power, since she noticed how deveasted Denji was and even herself, since they both went on a binging streak, spending all of Akis money. Thes were both trying to feel something new, calling back to Makimas lesson to Denji. Power had her conclusion to her character arc of being a unknowing existentialist, learning to care for the things around having a non-physical value to her and her giving Denji a birthday cake (wich she managed to make suprisingly) to Denji to cheer him up with her first ever smile of appreciation/love. And after her death, having that moment with Denji in the garbage is symbolic

Honestly it’s not really about a character winning all their fights that make them interesting and loveable. Nobara is FAR more likeable and interesting because she has her own identity and motivations which isn’t even because Nobara herself is focused to be this way but most of the cast is written this way. And if you look closely at our main characters, well, none of them has been winning at all in any sense that really matter to them. Gojo cannot really do much even being the strongest of the modern era. Lost his only BFF. Failed to protect the star plasma vessel. His students are either disfigured now or dead. Yuji failed to save a lot of people. He even failed to actually defeat and kill Mahito. Sukuna tricked him again. Megumi, well, his father is the father of the year. It just goes on for everyone on the side of humans. Sure they defeated some enemies but did they really win in areas that really matters? Gojo killed Toji but Toji already accomplished his objective. The same with Hanami. Mahito was absorbed but not before killing a lot of people and tormenting Yuji. At this point only the disaster curses, Sukuna and Kenjaku has been winning.

Nobara's Technique can be used from any range iirc, so there's no reason why if she is back she wouldn't just be hammering on the finger over and over again in a secure bunker or some shit where Sukuna wouldn't be able to find or reach her. The distance would also presumably make it impossible to tell when it's going to hit as well, which would be another huge kick in the balls.

I would love to see Nobara come back in the manga...However, with the way the manga is currently going bringing her back now is gonna feel very shoehorned in (even if done perfectly). Nobara’s death and the death of Yuki, genuinely had me annoyed at the fact that there was so much wasted potential. Not just for the characters but for the plot of jjk. While I understand thematically it fits to have characters “gone too soon”, it does make the deaths and characters feel half baked as a result. I think the female cast seemingly suffers the most from this simply because its a lot smaller when compared to the male cast leaving a lot less notable female characters.

I wanted to point smth out that I'm not entirely sure abt, so correct me if I'm wrong. But if I am correct, I recall that it's not so much of Gege hating female characters, I just remember him saying he has a hard time writing them. (But I'm not familiar with all his quotes so he could've said he doesn't like them or smth) Imo, Gege has a FAAAR better grasp of female characters than most manga authors today. He's beyond his time when it comes to not over sexualizing them, and even if they have gruesome deaths, he always makes them fairly compelling, as Nobara, Riko, and Maki have their own motivations and actively pursue them. Gege made Nobara so compelling, for me at least, in just 4 arcs in the anime (I didn't start reading the manga til I had finished Season 1) that I felt sad about her death in Shibuya and have wanted her to come back ever since. Nobara is probably my favorite female character in all of anime.

I feel that the story punishing her for doing something reckless is not disrespectful but what happens in reality. Sure, maybe people don’t like that in their fiction, but sometimes people bite off more than they can chew. Itadori constantly does this and dies because of it. He just doesn’t stay dead due to the relationship he has with the strongest curse to ever exist. Even then, there is still a consequence to that happening-the most recent one being Sakuna turning a large part of the city into a glass floor. The show is, if anything, not about pushing your limits despite the odds but recognizing them.

If it was supposed to be a false hope thing to further drive Yuji into despair...then we are past that point too. I'm so agreed with Nobara's backstory being left out if we about to rewrite the story. Cus it did make me sad but it just feels weird cus we experienced her with Yuji and Megumi, not with those two. They progress and get stronger and although they have more room to grow their starting point and speed of growth won’t keep up with someone who has a body engineered to be super human and a person who mentally holds themselves back while having a technique on gojos level. quicker summery at the end i got to be the one to put this out there she really didn't deserve that much better if at all because this is something that is constantly echo'd through out both yuji's and megumi's devolopment which is mindset matters and unless she was gonna be a shoko (not on the battle field much) than it was bound to happen while going up against special grades and that fact was during that fight against eso and kechizu even then we saw that she wasn't up to par with yuji as we him on a few occasions saving her and while normaly that wouldn't be an issue the only way she had improved going into jujutsu professionally was hitting a black flash(btw thats what causes them to gain a better understanding) other than that her efforts to grow were relatively little and to be honest getting stronger wasn't a main drive in her life like yuji and megumi so of course she would start to lag behind and with megumi getting a domain and improving the way he used his technique and yuji just in general honing down on the basics and both having a big will to get stronger and despite that they both almost died more than once during this. so to summarize she was weaker she had a bad mindset for a frontlines sorcer and was fighting a special grade

Nobara is LITERALLY the only character death that isnt 100% confirmed if u think gege had todos friend use that weird cursed technique to slow down her death but stated that it didnt mean shed survive just for her to die anyway yr buggin, shes gonna be the first of the trio to learn reverse cursed technique due to one being one of the very few students to be able to hit a black flash, deepening her understanding of cursed energy and 2 due to the nature of her cursed technique and natural understanding of the soul, plus right bfr she dies to mahito she states she wants to remember that feeling and feel the core of cursed energy, similar to the babble gojo was speewing right after he brought himself back from the brink of death, not only that but in gojos death scene he revisits all the ppl who died bfr him in his jujutsu career even fuckin amanai but nobora his precious student was not present, and my last and final piece of nobara copium, we see in a room when everyone is waiting for angel to bust gojo out of the prison realm, that there is a big box right behind shoko that is nvr explained nor addressed but its sitting dead center of the room, im not sayin shes in there, but its jus strange that its there, with all these details in mind im certain that shes alive and just in recovery

Well it’s not obvious that she’s gone Gege PURPOSELY left hints that she’s probably alive. First one is that her death isn’t confirmed, just assumed Even one of the medics wasn’t 100% sure on if she’s alive or dead but used their power to stop any possibility damage from happening (aka if she was alive there’s zero way for her to die, and should make a recovery) But I mean yea- side lining one of the main three is a little ass and is only worse when we know the ending is coming close. In defense of Nobara-> -Hostage situation. -She ran out of ammo. -As you said, caught Nobara off guard. Edit-> The brothers are special grade curses, they are curse wombs and were basically special grade objects that could not be destroyed until Mahito came in. Low special grades equal a grade 1 sorcerer as shown and stated by Ijichi. Edit again- Yuji has grade 1 level reinforcement, Megumi has a domain, and Nobara's curse technique is broken. You get struck by Nobara once and just die if you do not have rct.

I do think she needed to do more agenst haruta but most of her other loses were not her direct weakness just bad luck sure its the authors choice to give her bad luck but each of these loses come after a bad ase moment sure yes she could and probably should have been treated better by the story especially by the standerds of importance of the other 2 leads but if her role was to be a shocking death she did it pretty well without feeling fridged but i do hope she comes back she has constantly been a shining hope for yuji and team up very well so even a small moment vs sukuna as just a reminder for yuji that he can still do it and not all is lost would be great

A big part of the issue with her death is how it did _nothing_ for the character, and cut off her story for the sake of making the lead breakdown momentarily. In other words, she was killed unnaturally, for no other reason than pure shock factor and angst for the lead character. That's the textbook definition of fridging, isn't it?

I'm not gonna lie, Nobara became one of my favorite characters after season 1, which surprised the heck outta me. Her fight with Yuji against the special grade curses was honestly THE moment I really saw the true potential for more technical fights in this series' power system. To know now that it was her only true shining moment in the series, and her death wasn't even given the weught it deserves (not even a mention from Gojo), feels (ironically) like an _actual_ slap to the face. It has to be the worst mishandling of a character I've seen in Shonen in a very long time, which sucks because she was a refreshingly compelling female lead 😣

To me, Nobara is alive. When Gojo died, he was in a sort of lobby with all the deceased sorcerers that were somehow related to him, but there was not Nobara there, his student. SO that might have been a fat oversight from Gege or foreshadowing she's alive.

Principal Yaga was there too and he had less than few panels in that arc. Besides EVERY sorcerer who has been confirmed dead was there, seems really arbitrary to leave Nobara out. Hence I say Gege forgot about her, or is foreshadowing she's alive.

After reading this in the manga i was pretty floored. I thought she was a super cool character that had a lot of potential. The absence of any sort of a romance trope like there was in Naruto with Sakura or in MHA with Uruaka was a also a strong point for Nobora. However, her death came quick and unpredictable which makes it feel more authentic in a world like JJK which is riddled with brutality and uncertainty.

It is true that everybody suffers a horrible fate but I do think it's pretty unbalanced when most of the relevant female cast is killed off and now there's just Maki and Mei Mei (barely being relevant), while you have a much larger cast of male characters that are still relevant. The 2 actual main characters in the show Yuji and Megumi are most likely going to need to Surpass Gojo to beat Sukuna and end the series.
