Their monastery was assaulted and wiped out in Classic. They lost Hearthglen in Classic. Their Enclave was utterly destroyed by the Scourge forcing them to flee to Northrend. Their efforts in Northrend were obliterated by the Forsaken and the Ebon Blade in Wrath of the Lich King. They were killed and turned into undead versions of themselves controlled by Balnazzar in Stratholme and Tyr's hand, and were then defeated and destroyed by the Argent Crusade in Cataclysm. Their monastery was assaulted and wiped out AGAIN in MoP, and Lillian Voss made sure that Whitemane's body could never rise again, and therefore no return from death for the Scarlets either. In Legion the Ebon Blade assaulted and wiped out that very same monastery YET AGAIN, taking Whitemane's body and making her into the third horseman in the process. In Legion also they lost a sizable number of followers who then joined the Conclave (Priest Order Hall) as Crimson Acolytes. And EVEN STILL. Even after ALL OF THAT. After being killed and defeated SO MANY TIMES, and even having DEFECTORS, these Scarlet pieces of garbage ARE. STILL. ALIVE?! For the LOVE OF BOLVAR, _WHAT_ will it take for the Scarlet Crusade/Onslaught/Brotherhood/WHATEVER THEIR NAME IS NOW to *finally* bite the dust AND CEASE TO BE?! Scarlets... TBH, I have loved the Scarlets in the story as antagonists. I would love a whole expansion revolving around them, the intrigue, the propaganda, the spying, the deceit, the betrayall. The Dread Lords making their return through them in a last ditch attempt to not only secure Azeroth's soul, but to also release Sargaras and destroy the Pantheon...and let them succeed, let us loose, and after they win, the Dread Lords turn on Sargaras and destroy him too, making sure to eliminate the ENTIRE pantheon. So the next expansion becomes, the survivors of the "God's War" picking up the pieces, to try and stand up against our new overlords....All the while the Old Gods and Void are plotting new schemes now that the pantheon is destroyed....Even the Light will have trouble fighting both the Void and the Fel without help.

@King Reese despite having lost Undercity (and Sylvanas as their leader), the Forsaken still have several bases all around Lordaeron (in Silverpine, Hillsbrad, Western Plaguelands and they are also still in Tirisfal too trying to rebuild Brill and possibly Undercity in the future). So for the Scarlets it wouldn't be a walk in the park anyway, they still have the Forsaken (and the Horde) to fight in Lordaeron despite the loss of the Undercity

Especially since they made sure to point out that her presumed deceased mother was from Lordaeron. They've said Bolvar is going to essentially be the 'Magni' of Shadowlands and we're going to delve into his past...so 'hey I was secretly married to Princess Calia (too close to Taelia to be a coincidence either) and we had a daughter...for obvious reasons I couldn't let society at large discover my daughter was the only surviving heir to the Lordaeron throne" popping up I'm fully expecting it. Blizz doesn't do subtle very well and Anduin 'does' need someone to eventually produce his heir like Thrall was given Aggra for the same reason. Plus Anduin and Taelia's child would legitimately be the heir to both Stormwind and Lordaeron and that's too tempting a story hook for them to pass up.

@@margisama meh idk. The Scarlet Crusade has always been portrayed as loony for thinking that Lordaeron isn't dead. I don't think they're going to suddenly produce the real heir to the throne. Probably, Calia's daughter actually died. It may be though that the Scarlet Crusade legitimately thinks she had a son and that it is Daval Prestor's child. I would not put it past Tichondrius to have arranged that in secret, after Sylvanas subdued him. I'm sure we'll find out lots about Bolvar, and I do think Anduin will marry Taelia, but I don't think they're going to go with that plotline. At this point, any speculation about where this is going is futile because there's no evidence to suggest a direction.

I can see being a hint to a light focused xpac, like they did in legion about Sylvannas and the shadowlands. Interesting they mention something about a son from Calia, something say if Y'rel comes to our timeline, would/could use to get people to her side.

When these texts were originally datamined way back during the 8.1.5 wait, they seemed to be centred around a scenario involving Death Hunter Moorgoth (Hunter Order Hall npc), Dark Ranger Velonora and an as of yet unidentified male Dark Ranger. Who knows, perhaps we'll see this scenario at some point in the future.

@Moon H Definitely not. Calia lived with her husband and daughter in Southshore post-Third War and pre-Cataclysm. Bolvar ruled Stormwind during that time, and Taelia was sent to Kul Tiras when the Third War started.

To be fair, Alliance canonically won the battlefront in Darkshore. So by all intents, they did take it back, though it's not like they can really establish a new base on the tree right now, if ever. Although... maybe that could be an interesting location for a new high-level zone/dungeon: the burnt out husk of Telsrassil. Most enemies would be wrathful spirits and charred/corrupted elementals, with the major story about finding a way to reestablish a foothold on and renew the tree.

The Redpaths died during the Third War, while Calia's family were alive and well post-Third War and up until the Cataclysm (after which their fate is unknown). It literally cannot be the Redpaths, unless the established lore is changed completely.

Considering all this stuff mounting up, it could lead to setups such as showing the deep-seated corruption in the Alliance. Perhaps even having Genn Greymane splinter off from the Alliance to work with the humans of Lordaeron. However, with the whole idea up in the air about Light vs the Void, the Scarlets are a wild card because they worship the Light but are mislead by a corrupted individual. Similar in vein to Yrel back on Draenor in the Maghar Recruitment quest.

I think something that might happen is that when we go to the Shadowlands, The Scarlet Crusade will strike. With most of the worlds champions occupied it would be the perfect time to strike and I also think a time skip might happen. Maybe we think that we've been in the Shadowlands for like a year or so but actually its been 5+ years and Azeroth is in serious turmoil.

After the priest order hall campaigning in Legion, seeing the Crimson pilgrims walk around, I’d like to see a good Scarlet faction pop up with more development for them in a type of redemption arc. there is a lot of cool characters in the scarlet crusade, people who had their hearts in the right place in fighting scourge but were miss-guided by the dread lords that occupied their leadership. Would love to fight by their side for a change
