sadly the issue that leads to Doku being perceived as he is is that his contributions are harder to spot than his mistakes are - the casual fan won't notice his interplay with KDB, how he opens up spaces etc. but anyone can spot a misplaced pass or missed shot. love Doku, thanks for the analysis

I remember Doku scoring a goal and 3 or 4 assists in 1 game last season. As raw as he is, that is an indication of what he might be capable of achieving when he gets his game sorted. We still have the safety first options in Grealish and Silva for games where we need more control but considering that the Arsenal game is coming up soon, we need our flying wingers to be in top form. Having Doku and Savio out wide means that Arsenal cannot have Gabriel and Saliba playing in close proximity to one another like they did last season. They will have to split to help the fullbacks.

Doku always has a great & overwhelming game at the same time 😂 I do agree that the end product does let him down. I believe he can sort that out - just shooting & passing. He played well in Rennes & does so with Belgium. He's not playing with Lukaku, who's gonna waste chance - it's Haaland. The only thing between him & being the best winger in the Euro is his end product. Progressive carries & threats, he's leagues above everyone else. Pep believes in 🤷🏿♂️ I do, too.
@thetrain475392 ай бұрын
This is blatantly delusional, jesus fuck. Ping a ball into Doku at 50mph and see him turn on the ball perfectly controlled and dribble on, put a perfect cross in and get an assist. He simply can't. And you're comparing him to Yamal? Braindeath.

As a city fan, your content is exactly the kind of thing I have been looking for!
@sebastienrazee32242 ай бұрын
I'm a big fan of Doku and I feel like you really just need to give him the time, you could see just at the beginning of the game that he was trying types of crosses and passes that are unfamiliar to him, he also seemed to hold back a lot of the time, having watched him play for a little while, especially for the national team, he could just run at people so much more, but I think to fit the system he was trying to do a lot more of positional play if he manages refine his crosses and passes, master the new ones he's trying, as well as his cut-in shot, make his off the ball movement even more instinctive, he could be an absolute monster that's a lot of ifs, but he is one of my favorite players so I really hope (cope perhaps) he will
@Nobbins2 ай бұрын
Agreed!
@sebastienrazee32242 ай бұрын
btw to reinforce that he holds back on his dribbling, right before he went through the three chelsea players, you could hear pep shouting "GO JEREMY GO" kinda like - stop holding back, release the beast god I am too corny

I was watching alot of the postgame interviews with Pep, and I'm pretty sure he said the players decided on the field to switch Doku and Savinho. That really surprised me, especially with the general narrative being how controlling Pep is. Maybe he made it a point to allow them the ability to make that decision? I dunno, but very interesting
@JobHans2 ай бұрын
I maybe got a bit too far in thinking but I believe that he might got the idea from Ancelotti with the likes of Rodrigo and Vini changing positions or even from several seasons ago with sane and Sterling
@natasha37502 ай бұрын
True, heard Pep mention that bit. It’s quite interesting for players who have not played together or have a language barrier to pull off the switch first base. It could’ve been disastrous but it goes to show the level of intelligence and maybe a natural chemistry developed there. This season could be beautiful to watch
@Don-Royall2 ай бұрын
@@JobHansThis is lies, Pep has always allowed his wingers to switch, remember Sterling and Sane. Pep allows those who can switch do, even Bernardo is allowed to. It is only Mahrez he forced to stay at RW.

@JobHans Due to variation. Both of them can play both wings. It depends on the purpose. Doku mainly played RW in Rennes & Belgium (free roam). Also, when KDB is on the field, he can dictate the game play. According to Pep, KDB doesn't take **** from anyone. I believe you can see it 2 seasons ago against Arsenal.

Kovacic ain't Fernandiho... No Kovacich is twice the player Fernandinho ever was!!! Kovacic played great in every club he came to Dinamo Zagreb, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Man City and for Croatia team ( where he will now become Captain )... In Dinamo he was POTY, in Inter he was named best singing and he was given no 10, Real Madrid he was first sub for Modric, Kroos and Casemiro, Real wanted and begged Kovacic to stay, as Zidane said: Kovacic and Bale are the biggest reason why Real won La Liga in season 2017/2018, cuz club wanted to win CL ( year by year ) and they did, but players were exosted from all the games, so Kovacic stepped on gas along side Bale and play his ass off, so they could win La Liga!!! Then he came to Chelsea we're he became the Chelsea POTY and won CL and ECL year by year, Tuchel said: that he never trained better player/ mid in his life!!! Then He came to Man City when the club already won CL and many players were gone, well he stepped in and kept on playing, I'm tellin you, he will become the best player in Man City!!!

LNOBBINS. Imo Saviniho is a special player, especially for one sooooooooo young. His movement balance & rhythm with the ball reminds me of Mahrez and Robiniho. Smooth silky intelligent and quick, with great technique and skill in 1 V 1 situations. What really buzzed my mind, was his TRACKING BACK out of possession. Has wirery strength and determination. I'm hoping his early years are not dogged by injury. I fear, there already is a sent of history. Pep said post match, He (Saviniho) knows what it is. Has he tweeted his knee b4🤔🤔 Can see him away until after the International break.

I'm convinced City fans haven't seen players with Doku's profile. His weaknesses will not magically disappear. A 22-year-old that can't shoot, make simple passes, or just hopelessly crosses into the box isn't going to become a world beater. He just doesn't know how to do the fundamentals of football. In a way, he's like the opposite of someone like Mahrez. Riyad has the fundamentals of football--passing, shooting, crossing, ball control--but he is never going to be a physical specimen, which stops him from being best player in the world quality. In Doku's case, his physical ability and dribbling will not be enough to make him anything but a mediocre player.
@Topstrika-b4h2 ай бұрын
Bro write this long to talk crap
@thetrain475392 ай бұрын
Doku's dribbling is also shit. I'm so tired of people trying to defend him. You've ought to actually be stupid if you think a player who loses the ball 10 times before making a single successful action is anywhere near good. By 22 a world class player should be playing like world class already. How difficult is it to understand that? Was Foden struggling to complete simple passes when he was 22? Nah, he wasn't. City fans need to stop dickriding all their players just to be the most positive and supportive out there.
@znhait2 ай бұрын
@@thetrain47539 I wouldn't dismiss his dribbling. He actually gets into enough good positions, where if he could do the basics of football, he'd be a competent player. But when he does find himself in promising situations, like the 2 v. 1 with Haaland, or when he's one on one with keeper after getting through 2 or 3 defenders, he simply doesn't have the ability to execute the final action. And I keep reading, "once he learns to pass, shoot, make good decisions, etc., he'll be a world beater." They're failing to realize that those skills he doesn't have, he isn't going to develop them.
