Nice score, indeed. Wow, I salivated when you held up Bill Evans' Waltz for Debby, a long time favorite, as is the Cannonball Adderley (Something Else). I actually think Miles' contribution on the latter is superior to his playing on some of his own records of the time period. Just curious: where do you reckon the fellow you met had originally encountered the records? Was he a life-long collector who had bought them in local stores when they were new releases? This cache should place you in the upper echelon of modern day jazz record collectors/salesmen. Congratulations.

Inventions and Dimensions was the begnning of Jazz getting interesting, earlier than some folks realise 64. Well worth a listen. I find the Rollins OG every couple of years and the Adderley, Rollins tends to be in much better shape, not played as much? Maulawi, yes, not sure I've ever seen one, rare. Nice bunch looks like 30-40k value wise, hard to say, this stuff is so popular now should sell quickly.

"There can't be that many good collections out there...." Well, who has the best collections? Baby boomers, who grabbed the top records during the 1990-2015 period, when records were reasonably priced and they were in their peak earning years. Now, they are in their late 60s and early 70s, and maybe they're not feeling so rich. They will either sell off parts of their collections while they are still able, or their estate will be offering whole collection. Question - do you offer the jazz records at full retail price in your shop? I would think that not many walk-in customers in Matthews NC would plunk down $1000 or $1500 for a record, which is the kind of price you could get on eBay.

Not everyone likes the same jazz as you, the last record you mentioned on your last video was for squares. Why would people be chomping at the bit for saxophone colossus or the other one - they're not that great. Just because it's a collector thing doesn't mean they're good - I dropped my subscription. Alright, somethin' else is awesome. It's not what it is it's what it contains - jazz messengers aren't that great. Names don't mean s. Sidewinder socks- it's too nerdy, man. Lush life is cool. @@noblerecords sorry. I got the impression you were excited because they are valued on some kind of market price guide or popular with hipsters. I did my Horace silver, Lee Morgan, old miles Davis, sonny Rollins Coltrane thing when I was younger - I just learned to hate that kind of stuff. Sorry again those records piss me off for some reason, I don't think they are for my species - I forget there are other people. Horace silver is totally cool though. I was waiting for you to pull out some late psychidelic max roach, or Eric dolphy iron man, or herbie Hancock Rockit first pressing. M-boom, some bebop played on a coronet, some pocket trumpet improv. at the five spot - some Czech jazz with computer sounds, Ornette Coleman signed 70s jazz love Fusion. I love seeing hauls like this--just choice finds. Amazing. A few months ago I lucked into a small collection on Facebook marketplace and the small jazz amongst boxes of Ferrante & Teicher and musical LP's (My Fair Lady, anyone?) absolutely still make me feel tickled. Original copies of: Gabor Szabo - Dreams Coltrane - My Favorite Things (Mono) Miles Davis - Round About Midnight Miles Davis - Someday My Prince Will Come Horace Silver - Blowin' The Blues Away Ike Quebec - Blue & Sentimental There was more in there that I still cherish. Something I try and do with every collection (particularly if it's from someone who passed away) is learn the stories behind the records. The guy I bought from was a widower and husband was a cop who passed away from cancer after cleaning up debris after 9/11. His partner wanted to pass the music on to someone who would appreciate the records and really play them. We don't always get in the chance to learn these stories (I don't ask thrift stores to tell me the stories of the records, of course), but it helps to remind me that these records are carrying even more than just they music they hold within them.
