There's no *fixing* the system. It's impossible to *fix* something when it's working exactly the way its owners want it to. The only option is to discard it entirely and replace it with something new.

There are no owners - no "ceo of capitalism". Today's robber-barons ride a wild horse and everyday they try to convince the public and the government that they will not fall off. Unless things get even worse with no respite (very possible), it'll just be: period of status-quo stability -> widespread narrative of discontent driven by 1%'s incompetence -> reactionary policies with marginal social returns -> repeat. Things must otherwise get so bad that the majority is willing to roll the dice on what comes after the revolution.

8:38 'If you overvalue posessions, people begin to steal.' - Lao Tzu, Dao De Jing it's a simple quote for a simple concept, and not difficult to understand. if i can not afford to eat, i will steal the food. only a heartless person with no compassion would find that unreasonable. by the way, there's plenty of reasons someone might not have access to or want to use a food bank (such as expired food, limited options, lack of transportation, etc) and food stamps often are not enough to cover the cost of food, especially for people with no kitchen 👍 so nobody go there please thank you for continuing to talk about this

but what about the person you're stealing from? they aquired the food fair and square but now you deserve it more than them just because? how is that fair? food banks may not be perfect, but they are better than stealing from others maybe fixing the issues of food banks would be more valuable than encouraging or defending people who steal

@@channel45853 just because what? because i will literally die without food. i would never steal someone's life from them, so i would never steal from someone who needs it more than me. the most commonly stolen items from homes are valuables and electronics. the most commonly stolen items from stores are food, toiletries, and baby products. there is more than enough food to go around, but it's locked behind a price tag. if i can not afford the food, it would just rot in a dumpster instead. dumpster diving is also illegal in most places, so i might as well get it fresh. as for fixing food banks, absolutely that should be a priority. in the mean time, when people are starving, they will steal.

@@channel45853 omg girl tea when i was recording i said “it’s wrong to steal from small businesses (and family homes) but it’s ALWAYS morally okay to steal from large corporations” but i cut it out cause i knew people would take me too seriously😂😂 but yeah i agree, it’s wrong to steal from someone’s house or small businesses but IMOOO… if it’s like a grocery store, girl steal! (for legal reasons that’s a joke) but I AGREEEEE the point was that it’s always gonna happen as long as our system creates poverty

@@SunnieTreeyour mindset is not one that will survive this century. You can only rely on yourself. The government will abandon us it is a matter of time. The federal government is failing, so they will get desperate and squeeze us for the resources they need to survive. It’s us or them. They don’t work for us they work against us and they are the only real threat. Every other enemy they warn about is to blind us to their oppression through fear of a greater oppression.

Preach! I'd be homeless right now if my brother wasn't paying my bills for me. I had a medical emergency (a serious leg infection that took months to heal) and now have massive amounts of medical debt AND student loan debt, none of which I have even begun to pay back., while I am unemployed and awaiting assistance or a job. My brother (who is quite wealthy) gets angry with me every time I ask him for financial assistance, but he still helps me to make sure I don't end up homeless or starving. It sucks that he has to threaten to cut me off and insult me by saying that I "like being poor" as if I'm not trying to make things better or that I choose all of my circumstances.

Addiction is treated as a choice but: CSA increases the likelihood of later addiction issues, people with untreated mental health issues and disabilities are more likely to develop addiction. Addiction can be a manifestation of self-medication gone wrong as an example, addiction can be a form of self harm or suicidal tendencies in some populations. abuse and childhood neglect also increase the likelihood of addiction. The whole "Your misery is self-inflected" narrative pisses me off because poverty is a social issue. Individualism is just wrong because it posits that people are individually responsible for their own fates and that's just false, rich people didn't pull themselves by their bootsraps, they were born rich!
@SunnieTree

absolutely!! literally no one decides to do something they know is harmful to themselves unless it’s to remedy or cope for something else. and they just ignore how society puts us all in positions where we often need to find a way to cope with our circumstances because this system ONLY benefits the rich. everyone else suffers and how could someone be blamed for trying to feel better. people need support and help, not apathy and blame, you’re so right❤️

i’m SO GLAD this is on my page. this is what I have been thinking about for months. We are near the American collapse and it’s going to get SO MUCH WORSE and controlling before it gets better. I wish people would understand that this is not a democracy and the votes DON’T MATTER.
@SunnieTree
@SunnieTree Ай бұрын
america is a literal mess, and our democracy feels like disgusting and cruel lately. voting just feels cruel because i know no matter what i do, there’s no protecting palestine because both candidates are zionists. but not voting doesn’t fix it either because if we don’t vote then it’s not like nobody gets elected and i know voting is important for the sake of choosing who is going to protect the most american human rights but god it feels so disgusting this year. we’re so selfish to settle for the lesser of two evils thing because american politics effects other countries as well and yes the lesser of two evils may protect certain american human rights (which is important) but they are absolutely not protecting the human rights of those in palestine and congo so it’s like… how can we ethically settle for a candidate just because they’re not gonna cause as much harm to US as the other candidate will when all of our candidates are literally pro-genocide and will cause harm to palestine. like it shouldn’t JUST be about protecting us (barely), we should have someone who protects all. i hate that it feels like my hand is forced to vote for “okay which genocidal freak is gonna take away less of our human rights.” i’m 100% for revolution, im 100% for the abolishment and replacement of this system but the general public kinda isn’t there yet so until then it feels so disgusting to vote however not voting is a sure-fire way to get THAT person in office who will take away rights from most of us. it feels so gross i hate it but my hand is forced until the public is ready for the conversation of abolishment
@appa1154
@appa1154 Ай бұрын
@@SunnieTree i understand this completely. the world has become so unbelievable and changed drastically in just the 20 years i’ve been alive. the thing is though, whoever or whatever is in control right now has no problem gaslighting the entire population about what’s really going on. so who’s to say that there actually is an election where the population is in any kind of control? they’ve taken away our control over everything else, so why do we still believe that they are actually counting the votes? what if it’s all just a big fat puppet show to give us a false hope that we have any kind of control over what happens? truly. this was all planned. we have no idea who is actually in control. so i gave up voting. my hope is that enough people will stop giving to the system. i feel so much guilt over what’s happening in palestine too. if the population stops consuming, though, they can’t do anything anymore. they’ve gaslit us into thinking we don’t deserve the earth. we were born here though and there is plenty to go around for everybody. if we just stop working, they can’t do anything. it will happen.

probably counterproductive, humans easily become a product of our environment so even if you go in with good intentions, it can be easy to slip into becoming like everyone else. it’s human nature to adapt and mimic your environment, the best course of action is to just try to make change from the outside-in rather than inside-out in this case

Americans, especially libertarian ones usually do not want welfare policies, as that would mean more taxes and/or inflation, which they both despise. They possess this mentality of 'everyone should be left alone, but also everyone should stand on their own'. But what they don't understand is that that isn't possible, due to growing automation. We may one day run out of jobs. There should always be a safety net, otherwise some people are just kinda doomed. All it sometimes takes is a bunch of misfortunes, like you said. Clearly, the solution isn't the approach from the economic right, hardcore capitalism. And it's not the approach from the radical left either, which would be communism. It's Liberalism. Perhaps even UBI, but that may be unachievable.
@channel45853
@channel45853 Ай бұрын
your comment is flawed, you are trying to make an equation that could fall a part under scrutiny, you assume americans don't want welfare programs because they hate taxes, that makes the assumption that americans hate taxes as a concept for no good reason taxes seem to not be used to help the american public as much as it is used to fund the military, if a good amount of our military funds went toward wellfare programs, we could have more of those that are better without having to pay anymore in taxes
@Depressed_Spider
@Depressed_Spider Ай бұрын
@@channel45853 Mmm yes, that is fair but rather an additional problem. I do not think that shifting military funds towards welfare would change the view people have about welfare, even if they see the benefits. But yes, the fact that they do not even get to see those benefits in the first place certainly does not help either.
@pard3sh15
@pard3sh15 Ай бұрын
Im curious why you think liberalism is the solution and not communism. Liberalism is the ideology of maintaining the status quo, no? I agree that UBI may be a decent reform to work towards a solution, but ultimately I feel that reforms will only go so far when our ruling class exists.
