In a couple years everyone will be wondering how Baylor dropped to Celtics at 30, I think he'll be that type of offensive threat. It's highly unlikely that 15 of the top 20 players on the EC playoff teams will be injured again next season for the playoffs. To win the championship this season, the Celts played basically three lottery teams and an exhausted, injured, Mavs team that had just been assembled three months prior. Luck matters.

And you forgot to mention he went to a champion team and that helps with a players motivation and confidence, that’s gonna help develop them faster 🔥🔥
@qt3dot14ish2 ай бұрын
No, it's not. Once a player turns pro, it is their own responsibility to "develop" themselves. (And at this point "development" is primarily forcing one's self to forget everything you have learned about basketball for your entire life, and accepting that you are now a door stop for the premium contracted players.) To "develop" one must have actual playing time in real-time participatory situations. On a stacked championship team, there are no "participatory" minutes for rookies. When they do get on the court, they are just door stops, forced to stand in the corner and watch as the premium contracts absorb all the available statistics. That's why there are no meaningful rookies on championship teams. No rookies on Bird's championship teams. Sans the lucky break of drafting Worthy, there were no rookies on the 80's Laker's teams. No rookies on Detroit's championship teams. No rookies on the Bull's championship teams. No rookies on Houston's championship teams. No rookies on the Laker's, Spurs, Cavs, Heat, Celts, Mavs, Warriors, Bucks, Nugs, championship teams in the 2000's. NONE (sans Wade for the Heat, and that's because he was a premium rookie who went to a NON-STACKED team that completely lacked any premium contracted players.) Other than Baylor being a great practice player, none of these guys will have any championship impact for the Celts. The NBA is all about union-contract status. Rookies have none, so they are less a negative regarding championships. Unlike you guys, Stevens gets it. Nobody learns from history because people are too dumm to understand it, even if the lesson is obvious. Stevens has taken Danny's putrid sabotage rosters and purged all the short people, all the non-athletic people, all the aged-out people, all the non-scorers, AND ALL THE ROOKIE CONTRACTS. On championship level teams, rookies only exist for salary control purposes. The worst situation for a rookie right now is to be drafted by the Celtics as their career will waste away from the sidelines watching a stacked team for their first three seasons. By the time Davidson, Walsh, and now Watson, are due for new contracts, they will have had ZERO opportunity to show off their value so they will be relegated to a second low-level, low-paying contract. And although the Celts are currently the superior example of that dynamic, the same can be said for any rookie drafted by a team in win-now mode. If a rookie goes to a bad team with available minutes, they may or may not succeed. They may or may not fail. But if a rookie goes to a team in "win now" mode, they will get no opportunity at all.
@TGODSpeaks2 ай бұрын
@@qt3dot14ish all this applies to every other team except Boston, cause they are changing the game and will continue to make history, Hoopers develop in college to pleat great basketball, in the league they develop to be able to compete at a higher level , and Boston has one of the best rosters including the bench, no other team trusts all their players like Boston does

You are correct. Horford was a 6.10 player on back-to-back national college championship teams, who played in the tough SEC, and was drafted in the first round to a bad team (ie, a team with playing-time opportunities). Watson is a 6.8 player with zero championship pedigree, who played in the WAC (or some such weak conference) who was drafted IN THE SECOND ROUND by a stacked championship team who are in "win-now" mode. Until he leaves the Celtics, Watson will be less than a practice player.

Wishlist for this year: Develop Queta at C Sign & integrate Tillman Watson & Walsh to get minutes as 3 & D players who crash the boards. Develop Baylor & Peterson as on-ball versions of Hauser (maybe in the G League primarily). Both look like they're good 3pt shooters with the ability to assist teammates. See what we have with Springer and/or JD. That's alot of developing of players but Stevens has done a very good job in picking up players that fit our system and /or needs, half the season will be difficult with KP out & we need to keep Al fresh, so why not see what our reserves have rather than running everyone into the ground.
