I think cats accept they live in a world of magic, but they don't care about it, it almost never makes things better for them. Right there, Tommy had a magic portal into his past, speaking in his voice, but it's interrupting his nap, it's making his dad act annoying, he is just waiting for the magic portal + dad to STFU so they can both have a nice nap together.

Do you know what the Broadway play, Cats is about? Literally, just a bunch of cats. There isn't even really a story.
