They also have real issues with QC from their suppliers. Yota has completely lost their way. Like a restaurant that builds a good reputation over many years and lose all in a matter of weeks if a new owner fails to keep the same quality. We looked at the new Tacomas first then we looked and drove everything else in mid-size pickup and the Ridgeline she just loved since it drove like a car. We bought the 2024 Ridgeline Black Edition and so far love it. I was one of those guys that always put down the "toy trucks" but now I am a believer at the stage of my life. I always thought the tailgate opening was a gimmick but it is one of the best features and we use it more than the other drop down opening. Toyota has gotten arrogant and complacent with their customers and this is more proof if you ever needed any. IMHO

Done right turbos can have long lives but I have allot of pause on Yota turbos. The trans and differentials are completely underbuilt however. No trans intercooler either. Those are the problem areas that are breaking right now out of the gate. Also the internal bump stops are seeing the shocks busting through the cheap ass cast aluminum top hats. This is comically funny how crappy these are now.
@michaeljoseph44922 ай бұрын
These will be had on the used market or deep discounts from the stealership. If you really want one of these then just wait it out. Think there might be better options out there than this one currently. Also is anyone else here hoping Toyota comes out with the Stout? Toyota has an opportunity to do it right and have a Maverick killer. Give the people what they want!
@coreymoyers8 күн бұрын
They should have made them all-electric, with 100 miles of electric range, stupid horsepower and torque numbers with the Torsen center diff, and a 3.5L connected to a generator range extender running any type of gas. This would have given them all the benefits of an electric vehicle with the range of a gas vehicle. Ram beat them to the punch. Additionally, LFP batteries would be ideal in that role and keep the price down. That setup would would last forever while making Uncle Sam happy in the process.

Okay, I’m totally confused here! Why are all the current Tacoma fourth gen owners and Tacoma fourth gen fan- flunkies praising and sticking up for this new Tacoma and constantly belittling people that point out all the bad traits of this new platform?! 🤷♂️. Test drive ANY fourth generation Tacoma with an open mind and WITHOUT wearing rose colored glasses to see for yourself that this new Tacoma is all hype and not even in the slightest, equal and/or better than the previous generation Toyota Tacoma!😳

All good points minus the turbo 4cly bits. You guys are acting like NA V6 is a V8. I know Toyota has a lot of you about a decade behind the rest of the world for tech and performance, but time to move on. The only V6 that matters is one that comes with twin turbos. These new turbo 4s are built for boost and torque. They aren't NA 4-cylinders with turbo strapped on as an afterthought. The old V6's reliability wasn't because Toyota made it bulletproof, but because it was so underwhelming in performance, you could probably go 100k miles without oil change. If underwhelming performance is your jam, to each their own. Stay on top of oil changes, and you have the same reliable vehicle, just more capable and fun. But yes, Toyota is out of their mind with the prices as well as packages. They REALLY let you know you didn't opt for the $8800 premium package. Stepping into a $47k Tacoma TRD-Offroad shouldn't give you the same feeling as if you just sat in a "Work Truck" trim, but it does. TRD Off Road with hybrid motor and premium package is $60k. That's Ranger Raptor and ZR2 Bison territory without being anywhere in the realm of their performance.

A 4 cylinder, made-in-Mexico, compact truck with virtually no leg room for back seat passengers ought to sell for under $30k. These trucks are way too expensive.
@kevinnorris6558Ай бұрын
I can't understand paying $50k for this truck when you could pay the same money for a much more spacious F150 or Silverado. Can't site reliability issues as pickup trucks are the only thing Ford and GM do right. Unless you want the Tacomas manual transmission, there's not much reason to choose the Tacoma over the other options.

Yeah who would want a 4cyl turbo that make more power than the previous gen 6 cyl. Not to mention gear hunting. Gotta have that 3rd gen so it can swap gears every 3 seconds on the highway. Oh and that front drivers seating position is trash on the 3rd gen. I upgraded to a 4th prem sport and I will never look back. the 23 premium sport was the most uncomforatable thing I have ever owned. Anyone who regurgitates this nonsense either cant afford one and or has never driven one. media sheep.

Didn't the EU and California force the auto manufacturers to downside to 4 cylinder turbos?
@TB-dj8kl28 күн бұрын
At least it has one turbo instead of two to replace. Unlike the tundra, ecoboost, and rams new inline six. Toyotas like other brands now require you to bring back the vehicle for service intervals for warranty and having a chance for some kind of longevity. Over the long haul that can be very pricey. Bottom line things built today will not last as long as they use to, which means more money for the consumer to dish out.

Well, for many years most of those Tacomas are assembled in Tecate, MX., so close to the US-Mex international border. The main reason why Toyota built a factory on that location, it’s because the logistics, labor, and production is much cheaper than any location of the Americas. Even though the factory is located and managed by Mexican contractors, Japanese engineers are present there, I tell you truly because I’ve been inside the facility several times.

I strongly suggest machining a steel top hat for the internal bump stop. They don't use frame mounted ones anymore and the cast aluminum top hats are blowing up with shocks driving into the wheel wells. Also I would install a trans intercooler if you do any off roading or towing. The rear diff will overheat otherwise. Also don't allow salt to stay on the frame if you live in the mid west. They thinned out the frame too much in many sections. These will likely break in half over time. I'm not making this up. They are underbuilt compared to past gens. Just know this company has a new CEO who puts allot more focus on stock price and earnings. QC has taken a nose dive. They have cut many corners here. Facts.
