Thanks, nice review. I have a Journey with an intermittent parasitic draw. Also I have two vehicles so it sits a lot. I’m hoping this will solve my problem since NOBODY seems to find the fix for this car despite many having it for years. 20* out all week. My wife ordered this yesterday morning and it showed up at our door while we were out to dinner. I’ll get my ride in when she goes out, to install it today and keep the Journey plugged in outside. Hopefully problem solved. Have one in the generator room and that bad boy fires up all the time. I’d gladly pay more for it if it were made in the USA.

Hi, nice review! I bought the Noco GB40, but I'm looking for a maintenance charger, and this seems nice... but I want to use the same cable in both, to avoid leaving 2 cables attached to batery! Is it possible to disconnect the cable, or is built in? Thanks and greetings from Portugal PS: Sry for my english 😅

The NOCO Genius 2D charger is a great choice for a maintenance charger, especially if you already have the NOCO GB40 jump starter. However, connecting them using the same cable wouldn't be the best option for a couple of reasons: Cable incompatibility: While the NOCO GB40 has a standard SAE battery clamp cable, the NOCO Genius 2D comes with a dedicated 24-inch DC cable with eyelets specifically designed for direct mounting near the battery. Connecting those two directly wouldn't be optimal. Safety concerns: Leaving any charger permanently connected to a battery, even a maintenance charger like the Genius 2D, isn't recommended. Over time, it can lead to overcharging, damaging the battery and potentially creating safety hazards. It's important to disconnect the charger after it's finished charging and only reconnect it when needed. Therefore, it's best to keep the cables separate for each device.

Good review, I thought that all Noco Genius chargers have a force mode to charge a dead battery below 1 volt, also I thought that the Genius 5 and 10 has the repair mode setting?
@batteryhacker4343
@batteryhacker4343 8 ай бұрын
You're right, not all NOCO Genius chargers have the same capabilities, and you've highlighted two key differences among them: Force Mode: This mode allows charging batteries with voltage as low as 1 volt. However, only select Genius models feature it, not all. Check the specific model's manual or product information to confirm its availability. Repair Mode: This mode attempts to recover deeply discharged batteries through a pulse charging process. While some Genius models like the 5 and 10 offer a Repair Mode, it's important to note that success is not guaranteed and depends on the battery's condition. Here's some additional information to keep in mind: Alternatives for low-voltage batteries: If your NOCO charger doesn't have Force Mode and your battery voltage is below 1 volt, consider alternative methods like jump-starting or using a different charger specifically designed for such situations. Repair Mode limitations: Remember, Repair Mode is a last-ditch effort to revive a battery and might not always be successful. It's best to consult the user manual or contact NOCO support for specific recommendations on using this mode and managing expectations. I hope this clarifies the capabilities of different NOCO Genius models and helps you choose the one that best suits your needs.

My dc27 battery reads 100% charged and 100% health but never turned green light always pulsing red ?
@batteryhacker4343
@batteryhacker4343 27 күн бұрын
it sounds like your charger is having trouble reading your battery's status. Even if it says 100% charged, the red light could be a sign of a compatibility issue or maybe the battery's getting a bit worn out. You could try a different charger or check if there's any damage on the battery. If it keeps happening, you might want to get in touch with the manufacturer for more help.

What happens if i pock the wrong mode say i have a 12v amg but accidentally pick 12v lithium
@batteryhacker4343
@batteryhacker4343 5 ай бұрын
According to my Knowledge for the Noco Genius 2D 2-amp smart battery charger, it is unlikely to damage your battery if you accidentally select the 12v lithium mode for your 12v AGM battery. Here's why: Safety Features: The Genius 2D charger is equipped with safeguards to prevent overcharging, which is the main concern when charging different battery types. Automatic Detection (Likely): While the manual doesn't explicitly state this, some smart chargers automatically detect the type of battery connected and adjust the charging mode accordingly. It's possible the Genius 2D might do the same. However, for optimal battery health and performance, it's always recommended to use the correct charging mode whenever possible.

@batteryhacker4343 hey I've had my noco genius 2 connected to my dead mercedes battery for like two days and it's still blocking red am I doing something wrong

It should automatically recognize the kind of better you have when you plug it in. You just hit the mode button to manually switch back though

@@Novey909I had that same problem too! As soon as you plug it in it should recognize what kind of battery you have and begin charging. This happened to me one time where I did not charge at all and then it's set on a shelf for about 2 years and then I tried it again and it did work. But it only charged it enough for me to pretty much jump start my car and it would not start again because my battery wasn't fully charged even though it said it was within an hour and a half it went from green to red. I have yet to be able to fully charge a battery with this even after letting it charge overnight even though it said it was in the green I just left it on there because it wasn't fully charging my battery. So I am at a loss as well. I can't seem to get this to work as a battery charger

Hi I’ve plugged in my noco genus 2D, but I don’t have the guide book, if there’s is a pulsing red LED light does this mean that it’s charging? Thanks
@batteryhacker4343
@batteryhacker4343 6 ай бұрын
Yes, a pulsing red LED light on your NOCO GENIUS2D charger indicates that it is charging your battery, but it is less than 75% charged.

Strange I just got this charger maintainer have two new battery’s drove for an hr and plugged in changer and checked on it hr later and red light flashing indicating 75% on under unplugged charger tested battery’s 13.2v don’t understand the light system if it’s not really doing what it is designed to do.

I understand your confusion about the NOCO Genius 2D charger and its behavior. While a flashing red light at 75% might seem concerning, there are a few explanations that might not necessarily indicate a malfunction: 1. Different Charging Stages: The NOCO Genius 2D uses a multi-stage charging process. After an initial diagnosis and desulfation stage, it might show a flashing red light at 75% during the "bulk" charging stage. This stage focuses on quickly restoring a large portion of the battery's capacity. It's normal for the light to flash during this stage 2. Charge Acceptance Rate: The flashing red light could also indicate that the battery is nearing its fully charged state and is accepting the charge at a slower rate. In this case, the charger might be switching its mode to a "maintenance" or "float" stage, which would explain the flashing light and the 75% reading. 3. Battery Type and Condition: Different battery types may require different charging profiles. Make sure you've correctly selected the battery type on the charger (flooded, AGM, etc.) according to your new batteries. Additionally, if the batteries were completely drained or damaged, charging might take longer and the process might differ. 4. Troubleshooting Steps: To gain a clearer understanding, consider these steps: Refer to the manual for your specific battery type and the meaning of different light indicators. Verify the battery type selection on the charger is correct. Double-check all connections are secure and free of corrosion. Let the charging process continue for several hours and observe if the light changes or the battery voltage increases. 5. Consulting NOCO Support: If you're still unsure after trying these steps, it's best to contact NOCO support directly. They can provide expert advice and troubleshoot any potential issues with your specific charger or batteries. You can reach them at: Phone: 1-800-462-6626

Thanks great detailed answer. I have a similar issue. After a 24 hour charging period my Noco slowly flashes red then slowly flashes green. Where did you find those instructions that explained what the different lights mean?

I left an interior light on in my truck and my battery completely died. I plugged this thing in and it did charge my battery from red to Green within an hour and a half. I was able to start my vehicle right up but then it would not start again when I shut it off. My alternator is fine I have tried you've been taking it on a 30-minute 70 mile an hour highway trip set my alternator could finish charging my battery hopefully a little more so I can start it again before going on my road trip. It will jot charge my battery.. do you know what I'm doing wrong?

Takes longer than that to charge. I Mines been runing 8 hours now on brand new batter I stuck in at the auto parts store. Its not really a charger for big amp batterys. It's just a maintainer. On a 40 amp hour battery Nuco states it will take 10 hours. Bigger amp hour batterys take longer on the small charger.
