I appreciate the feedback. It helps my channel out a lot. I waited to upload this video. I was going to do a 1 month update but decided to wait to see how good the repair mode is on this charger. 6 months is pretty impressive of holding off needing to but another battery! I will do a update whenever this battery finally needs replacement. If it makes it to July Repair mode will be good for a year

One advice - when you charge your batteries with Noco Genius chargers, don't interrupt the process when you see a blinking green light on the unit. In order for the battery to be fully charged, you need to wait until the green becomes solid......depending on the condition of the battery it may take up to 24 or even 48 hrs from the moment the blinking green light appeared. Once the solid green light is on, you can start the repair mode. Hope my 2 cents are of help.

I'm really glad you posted this video. I'm having a similar issue with my Honda civic 07. It's been charging overnight and still on one bar. I was afraid to use repair mode. This is my first time using noco genius 5. I'm not skilled around cars, but I'm low on money and trying not to buy a new battery. The battery is only 3 years. old.

Let me know how it goes. I hope it works for you and you don't have to get another battery. Feels great when you can hold off a expense!

Surprisingly 70-80% of batteries die in the 3-5 yr range, they are built like shit these days...while the prices keep increasing. At least the aftermarket ones aren't worth too much, in my experience. That's why most companies have only 36-48 month warranties, they are hoping it just makes it past the date, so they don't have to pay out and replace. And around 80% of the cause of battery failure is sulphation, acid stratification. The main reason behind that happening is cars not being driven regularly. At least 3-4 days of driving, 2+ hours or more weekly will help prevent this and extend battery life.

Awesome review. I wonder what's your battery capacity since you've charged it within an hour - that's super fast. In NOCO 5 manual it's said that it will take at least 3 hours to charge 12V 20 Amp/h battery. I guess your Subaru has probably 40 Amp/h battery which can be fully charged in 6 hours according manual. Anyway, great review with monthly updates, thanks!

Once the battery was charged I was able to only get 1 start and then the batteey would be done. With repair mode now the battery is holding charge and now it's at month 7 being repaired. I will do a update once it no longer holds charge. It would be awesome if it makes a year that would make the battery 6 years old at that point. More would be better!

I haven't tried that on my car battery but I have used it on my floor scrubber. Had to use 2 of them because it uses 4x 6V batteries for 24V. It does seem to help a little bit but those batteries are very old. Usually in my car when it cranks slow I will check the water level and add if necessary. Usually helps. But next time I might try topping the water up and then the repair mode.

Is it enough just to remove the earth lead as my positive lead is in a difficult place to access and l would rather just remove the positive only? Any risk in just doing this for electrics ? Your post is good
@JohnDrivesAnything8 ай бұрын
People have different opinions on this. Some people don't disconnect the battery some do some unplug the negative terminal some do positive. I just unhook my battery out of habit to not risk blowing a fuse or damaging anything electrical. Are you trying to restore your old car battery? Let me know how it goes.

Fucking hell, so fkn hard to figure this out, like trying to get into repair mode, their website doesn't even say you need to press the mode button again, and I can't even get it into repair mode I think until it's green on the fourth light, so I gotta wait until the battery shows it here before I can do it? Been back and forth between the charger and youtube videos trying to figure this shit out, FKING CRAZY MAN. To have an actual FKN manual that actually details shit OML. THis is a simple piece of fkn equipment and you DONT GET SHT to learn how the FK to use it.

@@JohnDrivesAnything I’ve only had to do the repair twice over the last two years. I connected the wire lugs to all my cars with the quick connects from NOCO so whenever I remember I just plug them up to the NOCO I have mounted outside overnight, my newest battery is a 2019 and I have 4 cars. Honestly recommend NOCO to everyone I can. Bought my pops and brother in law the devices for Christmas last year.

My mom took this car to the dealer to get the oil changed and they recommended a battery change and she listened. Sucked because I wanted to see if this would make it to July a whole year on repair mode. I use this to restore my solar batteries in my van and restore the batteries in my other rides. It's worth it when it continously restores batteries!
@dwill_thegod8 ай бұрын
@@JohnDrivesAnything oh yeah that definitely sucks! As long as you properly maintain the battery once they go thru the repair mode I haven’t had any problems! I let the 2016 battery completely drain twice during the winters because I just forgot to plug it up when it got too cold out. Summer times I might go a whole week without plugging it up and it cranks every single time! Had me start to think replacing batteries was some kind of scam when I can just trickle charge every few weeks over night and be set.
