Just doing some research in to these for my bike and stumbled across your video and I have to say its fantastic. The technical electronical stuff too advanced for me but watching you enrich the generator engine by hand made me subscribe as I can understand this old school stuff and made me realise you know what you are talking about. Looking forward to watching your other videos, Thank you.

Those lithium batteries are awesome! And one good thing is that you can wear it down and it does not suffer as long as you charge it up. So if need to do need cycles those are way to go. BattleBorn batteries + Victron chargers+inverters are top quality stuff.

Hi! Do you know where can i check the date of production for my noco battery? Is that relevant for the performance of the battery?

I am looking to by the same battery from NOCO. I currently have an AGM. I also have the NOCO G1100 maintainer which works great. I do have a Lithium charge option on it. I do store the bike during winter months, no riding. Can I leave the Noco maintainer plugged in to the Lithium battery?

I think you are not supposed to store them with a full charge.

Tell you what that translates to many many small engine starts and reliability over the long haul... I know if I was to take a long trip deep into the back country I'd certainly want this lithium battery operating my atvs lights and what not to ensure you don't end up stuck out there with a dead battery

Hi Kevin, I have the NLP30. Does anyone know what the 100% and 0% voltage is to enter into a battery monitor for state of charge indicator. It’s not in the manual. I’ve emailed Noco for the battery Voltage vs State of Charge figures but they said they don’t have one.

100% on charger is 14.2V to 14.6. This will vary based on how balanced your cells are. The BMS will cut charging to the whole battery when one cell hits over voltage protection which is typically just a bit higher than the standard max cell voltage. Max charge voltage is 3.60 or 3.65. Over voltage protection is usually 3.70 to 3.75 and this is to allow the BMS to perform balancing which is bleeding off energy from the high cells using small resistors. Unfortunately the balance current is typically quite small, under 100mA so charging with anything more than 100mA gives the low cells very little time to “catch up” because the high cells are barely having any of their charge current reduced. Balance start voltage is typically 3.60 and if you look at the charge curve on a graph everything past 3.45 is a steep climb up and beyond 3.60 things go FAST! Resting voltage (30-60 minutes with no charge current) is typically 13.6 to 14.0 volts. So 3.40 to 3.50 per cell for a “12V” battery which in this case would be 12.8V nominal as most LiFePO4 is 3.2V nominal. This can range a bit depending on the cells. The very large batteries using prismatic cells tend to rest no higher than 3.40V per cell. Old cells are going to rest even lower. If a cell can’t maintain 3.30V when fully charged it’s safe to say it’s no good and likely has more than 20% degradation. Minimum voltage (under load keep this in mind) is 2.5V for the majority of cells. You can go down to 2.0V for cold weather conditions but remember not to charge below freezing and discharge in cold weather should not be too tough on the battery. 0.2C is where I would max it out between -10 and 5 degrees Celsius. That’s 2A for a 10Ah battery. Minimum voltage is under load so doesn’t matter if you pull the load off and it pops back up to 3.00V per cell. You could lower the current but once you hit 2.50V on any cell it’s time to cut it off. BMS will typically cut out at 2.3’ish because it’s not something you rely on, it’s your last line of defense. So 10.0V would be your minimum if your cells are balanced. Best to set it for 10.5V or 11V since avoid the bottom 10% is going to increase the life of the battery. If your battery is way out of whack and one cell goes super low while you’re still at 11V then the BMS will cut it off. Tldr 14.6-100% with a charge current 13.6-100% Resting 11-Practically 0% maybe 5% under load but just stop here 11.5 to 12.25- 0% at rest

I feel like a dedicated high freq lithium charger would have charged this thing in no time at all, my limitless lithium 8a charger is able to charge up my 100ah limitless lithium battery and a 25ah and a 1000farad supercap bank all wired together in roughly 1hr but I've never ran them completely dead either

The purpose of this battery is to start engines. You are doing long term deep cycle battery testing. This is the incorrect type of battery for what you are testing. How about the # of times it can start a small engine before being recharged?

Why do lithium motorcycle batteries have such low Ah capacities? In every other application, lithium is far more energy dense than lead acid, except for motorcycle batteries for some reason.
@kevincrawford2027
@kevincrawford2027 11 ай бұрын
I would guess that it is because of the size. You can use all the stored energy in a liFePo4 where in a lead acid only 50 % is usable with out really shortening the batteries life. So far all of my small LiFePo4 batteries have out performed the lead acid batteries I have replaced in my equipment. Some of them set for extended periods of time and still work fine because of the low self discharge of LiFePo4. Just my opinion.
