I hold a brand bias to Nocturn Industries. I think they make the best stuff in the industry. I think their additive manufacturing brought new ideas to the industry for OTHER companies to start innovating more, created more competition, more options, I think their devices are just some of the best in the industry. I like the Tanto as it's sooooo light and so slim. It's like running a single pod from a Katana with a CR123 battery, then the Daisho bridge to bridge two tantos? If you like to force multiply and give a second device you have to another person who doesnt have one? You can do that now. I think the Katana was just the most simplistic design housing ever made. It "just works". The IPD stops work pretty good (although they arent hard stops, I never had an issue). Ontop of that, I think their filters are better than the LLI filters. You get a more true "White phosphor" feeling on a GP device rather than the LLI one which more so just shifts the hue of green to like a teal instead. Nocturn Industries just killing it

Thanks for the product overview. The Katana R is now on the top of my list that I'm going to be considering for my entry into night vision.

Would love to see a video about the big questions in the room - Manual Gain or Auto Gain^^

Ive used both for YEARS, ive been on Manual Gain now for 2 years vs running manual gain for...god idk...6-7 years? It's ALWAYS going to come down to preference. Anyone saying Manual Gain is superior and you need manual gain? Theyre just trying to get you to buy their new housing and spend more money. Unless - youre on an auto gain housing/tube and you at times have found you REALLY needed manual gain? Then go for it. Manual gain to me is because an environment was too bright, I lowered the gain so it wasnt blasting into my eye - but that was before iris's started to become a thing. If the environment is bright? I just close down my iris's. Its already bright, youre not going to get that much noise into your image because theres already alot of light still coming into the device, youre just limiting it "physically" instead of "electronically" and it comes with an added benefit - less depth of field. I can see more in focus now, and I got to lower the output gain to my eye all at once. I cant imagine people who run both Iris's AND manual gain, now you have TWO things you have to mess around with to get the image you want. But again, it's preference. I know guys who will live and die by manual gain and say that need it so much. Me? Once I got an auto gain device, never really said "mannnn I wish I can control the gain!!!" But again, thats my peference, your preference may vary - and of course this is all my opinion, and others will have their opinion. I dont believe this is something that can show some kind of scientific data that one is better than the other as it will vary person to person on what they prefer. Also with manual gain? Less going on in the housing, less points of failure. Ontop of that, MOST tubes now with manual gain (im talking specifically to Gen3 Elbit and L3 tubes), will still have ABC (automatic brightness control inside) regardless if youre running manual gain or not. If the tube feels theres alot of light, it will still auto gain down even if your maxed out on your gain. SO either way, youre still running ABC on modern Manual gain tubes

Manual gain tubes have autogain. I think this is the most commonly misunderstood things I see from people with NV. Manual gain just lets you set your autogain max value lower than the default. If you put your gain to the highest setting, that is the exact same as running a tube without manual gain. Having manual gain is objectively superior to not having it, but if you always run your tubes at max gain, then it’s an irrelevant feature to that user.

I love the katana R, but I really wish they made it with manual gain. And no, I don't mean the manticore lol

I can notice his voice out of a crowd! lol JK it was nice talking to you the other day and getting a video on the housing I’m getting is awesome

7:00 do you have a link to the hat for the NODs please… might be a cool think to have if just going out for a hike or something

Manticore R seems like the better product for most use cases

Wish they kept the 4-pin LEMO. Wouldn't be a problem if 4-pin to 2-pin adapters were readily available, but this kinda ruins my coti y-cable setup.

I'm interested in the Infiray HL25 Thermal sight. Perhaps a video review ??/

How important is manual gain? Seems this company doesn’t care for it
