Black Metal dude here, I don’t hate Cradle, rather love them. I believe that Cradle’s first couple releases are black metal as fuck. Without question, listen to Principle of Evil Made Flesh or Dusk and her Embrace. Simply a symphonic black metal with gothic veins. They made their mark, and sure, they moved on to preform and make a more extreme gothic metal. Cradle fuckin rules

I almost got to meet Cradle of Filth almost 9 years ago. I was working at Walmart and their bus was parked outside. Sara Jezabel Deva was walking into the store and I held the door for her. I really wanted to ask her for an autograph but I didn’t want to be “that guy” so I just said I love your music with Cradle and let it be. She said thanks and we went our separate ways. The most ironic part is I was listening to Cruelty Brought Thee Roses on my way to work. Part of me wishes I asked for an autograph but I’m sure they were probably tired of signing things for fans by that point in the tour.

Very cool doc,kudos on covering their influences in particular. But they certainly also drew from classic Metal like Iron Maiden in particular,especially in Cruelty And the Beast's guitarwork. I really dont see the issue fellow Black Metal enjoyers have with them either,they were always good...for the most part,but we all occasionally stumble,but their consistency is indeed commendable. Also,Dani having Danzig 4 as a favorite is unfathomably based. Also,epic and awesome sauce Gorgoroth mention...Burn In His Light - The Gorgoroth Story when?

I've been a Cradle fan since Dusk and I have to thank you. They've been run through the gauntlet, but they've always been great, on that epic level of black metal. Goth, punk, death rock and Cradle. "True" is always subjective. Thank you for this
@TheOtherBrotherAli7623 күн бұрын
Over the years I've been an "Elitist" of more than a few music genres, sadly. Every time I've been introduced to something new, musically, I go headlong into it. Metal wasn't any different. But there were a couple of things that made that journey a bit different for me. First, at the time in my life that I got fully introduced to metal, as a whole, the friends that put me on were intelligent about music. While they talked about subgenres like Death, Thrash and Black metal they presented it as a whole with great bands from each category and let me decide what pleased my ears. "Cruelty And The Beast" was my first introduction to COF and Holy Crap was I amazed. It's such a good album. And second, I had gotten to a point in my life where I could appreciate about any offering in a genre that was just genuinely well made. Love or Hate, COF, makes sonically pleasing music. And let's be all the way honest, probably the best merch ever.

I became super close with his wife and kids… it was my second home I got a long with all of them and love them all so so much. Unfortunately he had passed away a while back in a accident near where we lived I got to see him play once at a tribute gig for his friend… such a kind soul he was always making me laugh and surprising me with the most strangest things like bringing his snake round to my house and scared me 🤣 Love the video man !

Cradle of Filth also used to have a t-shirt that had "Metal Forged From The Hot Friction Of Wanking Nuns" on the back. One of the things people used to accuse them of back in the day was being kinda try-hardy, which was interesting because so much of an assortment of slices of the metal scene were super fucking try-hardy. I remember going down to London to see them play the Astoria, Arch Enemy opened for them. Think that was maybe 97' or 98', anyway, seen them many many times. I even walked out of a Glasgow gig because they were terrible that night. When they are on their game live, they are almost untouchable. When they are bad, THEY ARE BAD !!!!! Been into them since the 90's, kind of still like them. For all the hate they get, they have been around for more than 30 years, that says something... Best song has to be Funeral in carpathia, the re recorded version from the From the Cradle EP. The Jesus shirt, I still have. Does it fit me, not a chance any more, it's well over 20 years old... Still have a vast collection of their out of print shirts from the 90's, prob going to sell them, going for a pretty penny nowadays...

RAW magazine had a compilation CD on one issue in 1996. It might have on all issues. I only ever saw that one issue though. It had Wolfsbane's Rope and Ride and Cradle of Filth's Dusk and Her Embrace on this particular CD. This is where it began for me with COF. 1996. COF and Dimmu get hated on by the goblins who hide in their moms cellars listening to Raw Black Metal and have posters of Dead and Euronymous with candles below them. EDIT: I still have that Living With The Enemy episode on an old VHS tape somewhere in the house.
