Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Blur, Oasis, The Verve. list goes on and on. The music's been influenced too much it falls off to great depth nowadays

Yeah I agree. If Noel truly thought that American culture wasn’t weaving its way into Britain in the 90’s then he was clearly blind. The influence of American culture back then was just as strong as it is now. Park life is a brilliant album that showcases British culture in a great light.

Damon Albarn started Gorillaz - which are heavily based around American rap. So he changed his tune from when he made those comments in ‘94.

Its weird I prefer Blurs music to Oasis even if Damon is from an upper class background but at the same time its cool to see a working class band like Oasis make moves in the world. They really are contrasted but both band were iconic

@@louissanderson719 He changed his accent, especially back in the 90’s. That was one of the things about him that grated - he was very affected. One minute he was the Art school indie guy, then he was playing up being a cockney football fan during the mid 90’s Britpop period.

I used to have the kind of view that Noel expressed in the first segment of this video, but I got older and realised that Damon is an artist. You can still care about politics and want to make a difference in some way without actually becoming a politician. Popular music really up until the 2010s was one of the best ways of spreading your influence. Also Noel glosses over the fact that Blur wrote about a range of things not just politics

The UK were always political allies of the US, long before Damon Albarn said that - do you remember the Gulf War in ‘91? Regarding American music, he started Gorillaz in the late 90’s, which were heavily influenced by American rap - so he didn’t exactly stand by his principles.

They did compete with Oasis in ‘95 though, they thought they were the best band and Albarn wanted to put them in their place. Justine Frischmann was his girlfriend at the time and admitted it.

I can't with this guy. He just slagged off the oasis tribute band for making money off of others people music 😂 this guy has stolen more music than anyone ever. Almost all his songs are stolen. He basically realised he could steal the songs and by the time they noticed just pay them a pittance out of court and just shrug it off in the arrogant way he does and saying it's only working class people who understand British culture what a pompous thing for him to say.

Back in the Britpop wars I was into them both but definitely mainly a Blurite, and I still think they made and make much better more adventurous and interesting music. But crikey as time’s gone on it’s become obvious what a bellend Damon Albarn is. Great songwriter and front man, but a bellend.
