Great stuff. Without today's wall to wall internet coverage, this sort of look behind the scenes of the glory days of GT racing is worth it's weight in gold.

Epic achievement by all involved to get that far in the race. No denying that. Also this is Noel at his most charismatic too.

Thanks for uploading this. So nostalgic. I was lucky enough to be at the race with the second DAMS/Motorola Panoz - as a freeloader tbh. I hadn’t seen the film before and it’s so evocative.

Having a chat with David Brabham last year about this car, he said, noisy, fast but so bloody unreliable, he loved the Panoz Roaster. Still he loved Don Panoz and his vision .

Great show. I never knew until now that the car raced at LeMans in 1997. In 1998 I saw the car for the first time on TV in the Daytona 24 Hour race (USA) in January and fell in love with it a few months later when I saw it in person at the Watkins Glen 6 hours. The roar of that Roush V-8! The Panoz GTRs and the Ferrari 333s of that time are among my all time favorite cars. I don't know if Noel was involved at LeMans 1998 but the GTR-1 under David Price Racing finished 7th overall.

We all love the Mclaren, but history love to forget just how great and terrible they had it in lemans 97. heck of the 48 cars that started on 18 finished !! that's a war of attrition.
@jamiecloughgaming253873 жыл бұрын
Indeed, their quickest car the No42 BMW factory car of JJ Lehto Steve Soper and Nelson Piquet, crashed out, that car would perhaps have finished 1st overall, indeed 4 out of 6 McLarens did not finish, so to still finish 1st and 2nd in class and 2nd and 3rd overall was quite something...

Yes. In pre qualifying, the rear body of the WR Prototype came off before Arnage. The out of control car went over the barriers, turned over and exploded, killing the driver.
@jbjon48783 жыл бұрын
In fact it's the whole single piece bodywork that came off between Arnage and the Porsche corner, the chassis went into the barrier up side down and the driver got beheaded
