As a kid, I was a fan of Tolkien's books, but as an adult, I became inspired by his faith. This was beautifully done and I'm sure he would heartily approve. Thank you! Merry Christmas!

How cool of Tolkien to honor the birth of Christ with such a beautiful poem. Hope more fans find Christ through the reading of Tolkien's works

I've been reading Tolkien for ages, and yet I am still amazed by his linguistic and poetic mastery. There are few writers who have such a fundamental understanding of language and the ability to use it to such a degree of complexity and level of beauty.

“Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the one great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament. There you will find romance, glory, honour, fidelity, and the true way of all your loves on earth, and more than that: Death: by the divine paradox, that which ends life, and demands the surrender of all, and yet by the taste-or foretaste-of which alone can what you seek in your earthly relationships (love, faithfulness, joy) be maintained, or take on that complexion of reality, of eternal endurance, which every man’s heart desires.” -Tolkien

Revelation 21: 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God.

How amazing is this. Thank you. It, in some ways, reminds me of TS Eliot's poem, The journey of the Magi. Both men of great intellect, and great, yet profoundly simple, faith.

I keep coming back to this video. It might be one of my favorite videos on KZbin. I hope you guys do more content like this with this voice actor What's the exact version of the song used for this video?
@TheOneRingcom Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The final version certainly came together to be greater than the sum of its parts (though Austin Robertson's voice played a HUGE part!). I found the song on Epidemic Sound, actually, and stripped out a few of the instruments to give it a very simple sonic quality.

+ O come, Let us adore Him: Christ The Lord! + This is the greater and deeper music Tolkien writes about in his Silmarillion: the Incarnation of God made man, that men might become gods through His Birth, Dying, and Rising again. More kingly than Aragorn; more piteous and merciful than Gandalf; more steadfast and brave than Samwise; more long-suffering than Frodo: Jesus is His name.

Does anyone know who is reading this poem here as it keeps coming up with Hugh Laurie but that is a latter version. Also I cannot find the title of the music or composer. Many thanks.
