Thats what I was thinking....the story had more of a menacing sinister vibe with a whole lot more detail. The short movie seemed to vague and rushed.....could have been alot better if it was a longer short....maybe 30 minutes instead of 14 minutes and more details. However, it was a good watch and a good story to listen to as well. I just don't need to watch it again.

Since I was a youth, if they made a movie based off a book, I always preferred to read the book instead of watch the movie. I find that it's much cooler that way, because you get to use your own imagination and create your own visuals. Sometimes I cave in and actually watch the movie though.

In your history classes, when they teach about world war 2 and the holocaust do they talk about how wrong the nazi's and 1940s germans were to try and kill an entire race? Like do they say anything about guilt and all or do they just like quickly speed through that section so they dont have to talk about the country's involvement? It's a real honest question. So I was curious how they taught about Germany's past, and your really enlightened me. Plus it's good to know that the education system there admits to their past and is truly trying to keep it from happening again. Hell, over here there's a ton of loser trump supporters who would love to get rid of all the blacks and Hispanics by any means necessary and I think the world all seen how bad things got under him. Good acting -- more of a thriller and mind twist -- what he went through wasn't so bad as much as it was UnNormal --- not natural -- went from poorly done Halloween setups to twilight zone -- then to Night Chiller. Overall Excellent ending because you do not know if he is still in the house and it added a new room or he is out with '10' is his house number and he finds it ironic.

@@tamielynne7374 What is your issue? I understood the decorations meaning. Just because it is based off a book doesn't mean it can't stand on its own. It is a story/film about a house that changes and adds to itself for some reason that is not given. To say all people never actual escape can't be true or no one would have known of it. Was it a coincidence his home numbers were 11 or was it a continuation of the house -- and those that won -- really didn't. Could it be if you lost you got out and the house didn't change????? Love the short film and how faithful it is to the original work. Of course, there are obvious constraints, like not being able to voice the monologue of the main character, and not being able to make the little girl simultaneously a demon (i imagine due to practical constraints. though I love how you handled that with the shadow). The actor portraying David, Connor Keene, did well in portraying the fear and panic. 95/100.

This adaptation of "NoEnd House" was magnificent, Ethan! You were quite faithful to Brian Russell's short story, but also left your mark by adding in some of your own original ideas & touches like the Woodsman with the pitchfork in Room 5, which I think was inspired. I also really liked the use of Johann Sebastian Bach's classic organ piece, "Toccata and Fugue in D minor", in Room 2 (it's my favorite piece of organ music). Now I don't know what kind of budget & other limitations you had in filming this, but you took what you did have and really made it work for you. All in all, this short film was very well & professionally done and certainly did justice to the source material. You Ethan are clearly a talented filmmaker and in addition you were definitely able to assemble a talented cast & crew to supplement you here, particularly lead actor Connor Keene and composer Aaron Stafford. Bravo! 👏 I have to ask, is there any chance that you'll follow up this adaptation of "NoEnd House" with an adaptation of "NoEnd House 2"? Also if you saw it, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts/opinion on the Channel Zero adaptation of "NoEnd House".

Hey Danny (at least I presume that's your name), First off, WOW thank you so much for all your kind words! We all worked very hard on this project and did take a tremendous amount of dedication, work, and time (15 months to be exact, most of which was in post), and a reaction like this makes it all worth it! Having recently started my first ever semester at university, this has been an extremely uplifting and inspiring read that I really needed this week, haha! As for your questions: 1) I had considered it but, as of right now, I don't have any intentions of adapting the sequel for a number of reasons. For one, the owners of the lobby room (the orange room at the beginning and end) no longer own that property, so I wouldn't be able to shoot in a consistent location. Also, I don't feel that the twist at the end of the story would work quite as well, as we didn't really set up the Peter character as any kind of potential menace or as a shifty guy like the source material, so it feel really random and out of place. 2) I still have yet to watch the show, as I haven't had cable in quite a while. From what I've seen and heard, it seems to be a good show, although not much a faithful adaptation, though that's fine (The Shining was pretty unfaithful to the book, but it's one of the best horror film ever made!).
@DannyBoy111285

Yes, Danny is indeed my name. You're welcome, Ethan! All of the hard work by you and your cast & crew really paid off and you're all much deserving of high praise with what you accomplished here with this adaptation of "NoEnd House"! 👍👍 I didn't say this before, but I'll say it now; thank you for uploading this awesome short film for all to see! 👌 It's disappointing to hear that you don't have any intentions of adapting "NoEnd House 2" because based on how successful this adaption of the original turned out here, I think you could do wonders with the sequel, but I can totally understand where you're coming from on the matter and it makes complete sense with you not having set Peter up for the role he played in the sequel. Are there any other creepypastas that you'd be interested in adapting? Also out of curiosity, has Brian Russell seen this adaption of his short story and if so, what did he think about it (if that's something you wouldn't mind sharing)? I hope he enjoyed it as much as I did. As for Channel Zero, I've thoroughly enjoyed all 3 seasons of the show so far (season 4 is suppose to begin later this year) and I really like what creator/showrunner Nick Antosca has done with it. The Channel Zero adaptation of "NoEnd House" for season 2 wasn't nearly as faithful as your own, but then again I don't know that there's really enough to the original short story for them to have faithfully adapted the story over the course of 6 episodes without it feeling as though it was dragging on. In any case, it was still a very creepy tale and the direction they took the story in and how they expanded upon the mythos of the NoEnd House itself was very intriguing I thought. Season 1 of Channel Zero was based on "Candle Cove" by Kris Straub and the show greatly expanded upon it out of necessity because if you've ever read the original creepypasta then you know it's rather short and reads as a series of message board posts discussing a disturbing old children's show (if you've never read it then I recommend it). I thought what Nick Antosca & company did with the creepypasta and how it was expanded upon was excellent and added to the mystery of the story. Mostly recently, season 3 of Channel Zero (known as Butcher's Block) was based on "Search and Rescue Woods" by Kerry Hammond. 'Inspired by' would be a better way to put it, because season 3 is by far the furthest removed from it's original source material. "Search and Rescue Woods" follows the experiences of its narrator, who's an unnamed search & rescue officer working in a national forest, as he recalls stories/experiences of his own as well as colleagues of creepy happenings, bizarre disappearances & mysterious staircases in the middle of the woods (it's pretty long, but again, if you've not read it then I recommend it). Butcher's Block doesn't have anything to do with an SAR officer, a national forest or anything like that, it completely changes the events to an urban setting (a bad part of town known as Butcher's Block, hence the title) and really only takes the concept of a staircase being where it shouldn't (in this case, in a dilapidated park) and expands upon as to why it's there, where it may lead & how it may have something to do with mysterious disappearances in the area. Overall Butcher's Block bares little resemblance to "Search and Rescue Woods" and I've read the some were disappointed by that fact, but I personally liked what Nick Antosca & company did with the concept of a mysterious staircase and the creepy & sinister story they wrapped around it, and the fact that Rutger Hauer (a favorite actor of mine) had a starring role made it all the better. I understand why they went the route they did with the Channel Zero version and at that, and I also think the original creepypasta is much better suited for an anthology horror film format than a 6 episode tv series format in the first place (my opinion). Anyway, if you ever get the chance to check out any or all seasons of Channel Zero, then I certainly recommend it. Well apologies for my rambling and creating this overly long reply. To end this, I wanna say that I wish you much good fortune with your first semester of university and for whatever it's worth, I hope you stick with filmmaking because I think you have a real talent for it. Keep up the hard work dude!

Rooms 8 and 9 were done masterfully except for one little nitpick I have. He never should've said "I'm still in the house." I would've let that shot longer on the 8 just a little longer to let the horror seep through and follow him as he slumps to the floor. But the doppelganger room, that was absolutely perfection.

Wil Bane Yeah, I think it would’ve been best to cut out the line. It would’ve saved a lot of time since I must’ve spent a few hours just getting it to sound right (the dialogue was recorded too quietly in this scene). Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. Thanks a lot for the feedback!

I know sometime every must dream of the tag-line 'and a cast of thousands!' following the title of his production. But to me, the minimalist approach in horror is always the best, the truest, the most frightening. When few people are set against an unknown terror, it is the magic of moment to moment, and it is dependent on those few or that one, that makes or breaks the production. I shall always remember this film as an illustration of that idea. Thank you for a short season of out-of-my-wits wonder. Excellent work, everyone.

VERY well done! I LOVED how you went from cheesy typical "haunted house" type rooms to psychological thrill type scares. Loved how he thought he "got out" only to get "home" to room #10! Great thrill rude! Wonderfully acted, and yes...i loved the score...
@ChaCha.44
@ChaCha.44 Ай бұрын
Did he get to Room 10 bc he's now dead (since he ended up killing himself in the previous room?); I obviously interpreted it that way as he's NEVER EVER getting out of that house due to him being unaware of his "suicide/murder of himself" which had just occurred in Room 9 (or whichever room it was). I don't think he realized that he is now stuck for ALL OF ETERNITY NOW in that evil house bc he offed himself quite good at the end of the film; I took this as to mean that the ONE & ONLY ENTIRE INTENT OF THAT HOUSE was to capture/trap AS MANY HUMAN SOULS AS IT POSSIBLY COULD; to entrap your soul there FOREVER! The house tricks you at first by beginning with only stupid, silly, non-scary, typical "haunted house/Halloween tropes/cliches" to keep you unafraid to continue to move forward deeper into the house until it's much too late! At the end of the film, well, this is where I started getting a bit confused but I'm thinking I'm probably AT LEAST correctly interpreting some of the film's messages/plot AT LEAST A TINY BIT CORRECTLY???? Idk, just a guess...I'm not at all familiar with the original creepy pasta of this story which ppl keep referring to here in the comments, so I hope if anyone replies in response to my comment here that it'll be kind, understanding, and helpful at getting me to understanding it more so I can definitely understand most of all of this film/story as much as possible! It's always so fun to hear others' opinions and takes on every movie, to learn different and interesting things about each one, and to definitely learn as much as possible about the exact, specific film/story I'm referring to. And btw: I know your comment here is already 5 years old, but I still just thought, wth, I'll respond to it and maybe, just maybe, if I'm lucky enough, you just might reply back and explain this to me a whole lot better vs how I'm just guessing at this point - ha! Thanks again and hope to hear back from ya! 😊 Oh and PS (I know, I know, this is no longer a comment anymore, it's a book 📖): If anyone else has anything respectful to help me with my questions regarding this specific creepy pasta, please, by all means, the more the merrier! I'd love to hear other ppls' viewpoints and explanations on this too!! Thank you so much! ☺️

I'm glad you enjoyed it! The film took about 15 months to make (since I was working and going to school full time, with several weeks between each shooting day). I would've liked to include the real room 5, but a giant room filled with vegetation would've been way outside the nonexistant budget, plus invisible bugs would've been difficult to depict on film (especially for viewers who haven't read the story).
@fu9856

if you haven't already, highly recommend you read the original source material here: creepypasta.fandom.com/wiki/NoEnd_House //spoilers below this line I take NO CREDIT for this idea! It was found online, thought of by someone else. Each room, represents a stage of drug/alcohol addiction. Room 1: Nicotine. Kinda harmless, but a gateway. Room 2: Marijuana. Same as before, but a little more of a kick. Room 3: LSD/Shrooms. Hallucinations, questioning reality. Room 4: Alcohol. Drunk into a blackout. Room 5: Meth. Bugs crawling all over you. (Perhaps even paranoia) Room 6: Anti-Depressants. Supposedly somewhat normal, but insanity lies underneath. Room 7: Heroin. (I saw 'Trainspotting' once.) Room 8: Overdose. Hurting oneself, the final moment. Room 9: Waiting to die. There's only a room 10 because addiction never truly goes away. Once you're sober, you're an addict in recovery. And remember that strange hum, mentioned numerous times in the story? Sometimes loud, sometimes very quiet, sometimes inaudible? The hum is the call for more, the call for an even bigger high. And in room 9, where he was nearly dead, the hum wasn't even there. Also notice how many times he mentions that he "doesn't do drugs." We can't be sure if he's being honest. And who's his buddy who showed him the "NoEnd House"? A heroin addict.
