What a grind indeed it has been this year! Crappy ice and high pressure in areas where there is good ice. Oh well, they'll be there next year!

Michigan we normally chum the whitefish with salmon eggs.. use steelhead eggs on the hooks . Just boil them for split sec so you can get them on a hook .. then cure them.. sometimes use a can to get the chum right under the hole.. if there's current eggs can drift off.. we can spear them as well

Yeah I grew up in upper Michigan and would do just that. Boiled salmon eggs (Mom didn't care for us doing that in the kitchen) chummed off the breakwall would bring in the Menominee's and Whitefish. In Wisconsin chumming is not allowed but thanks for bringing up the subject. NFN out...

Hi Nick, Those underwater shots are really great. I've got a coupla off topic questions if you don't mind answering. 1) Do you know of a method to catch or trap round goby for use as bait? 2) I have a boat set up for salmon, similar to yours. If Lake Michigan is calm, can you have four people in the boat and fish with reasonable efficiency? Thanks

Hello Scott, 1) never heard of anyone using live golby's. I use plastic/rubber ones. 2) four people is tough for my boat set-up much nicer with two or three. Good luck
