Thanks! My friends and I had great times seeing HT back then in places like the Academy of Music on 14th street NYC. Still having great times seeing them these days, like at Fur Peace Ranch a couple weeks ago. Who woulda thunk?

Sammy is kickin' almighty ass on the traps just like when I saw Tuna headline over Canned Heat in June of '72 with Papa John and Jack on their "Burgers" tour .... This is the best live Tuna from '72 that I've heard on KZbin. I wish that someone would please post the two nights at Pirates World in Dania,Florida with Canned Heat opening as my tape got stolen years ago and I miss hearing it

Introducing Burgers to the world! Great lineup if there ever was one. Was only 12,but three years later I was on the Tuna bus! In an interview Jorma said SEACHILD,was his favorite off the album. It’s also my license plate! The old one is on stage at the ranch, thanks to John Hurlbutt🙏! 12-5-22 Count Basie Theater Hot F’in Tuna 😎🙏

I saw them perform in ‘72 or ‘73 I remember the quality of their sound system and how tightly Casady and Kaukonen (sp?) played. But Sammy Piazza’s playing was the most impressive thing to me. He was crisp, punchy and driving. He drove the tempo. A lot different than Spencer Hayden’s playing with the Airplane.

My favorite Tuna is from BURGERS forward through the RCA FINAL VINYL LP, & QUAH, 'Jorma' (just a Song short of a full LP time wise) & the Vital Parts' LP 'BBQ KING'. After that, I only like that 1st Song 'That's Alright With Me' & AK (for personal reasons on a strange LP as a Reunion). I never saw Bob Steeler play & I'd give a few years off my Lifespan just for 1 good night of them at The Capital Theater in Passaic, NJ (& maybe w/Greg Douglass in the 6 Months of his Tenure & Nick Buck on the Keys/Synth like 'Double Dose',🍔, 🟢🐀/🐁, 🇺🇲's Choice, Hoppkorv, Final Vinyl..., 'Snow Gorilla' from The 4 Jack Casady Demos before SVT-REMASTERED EVERYTHING AS 'Always Comes Back'- the Complete SVT Catalog released by Nick- who'd fixed it All for SVT Fans & The SVT Band. Be happy for 'THE VID'/'THE HEY-19' chinese germ warfare w/Bat shit-Lil' cunning fuks they...🎼🤷♂️🐄💨

Thumbnail is after 1-72. Tuna played Cowtown Ballroom in KC in May '72 and Sammy did NOT have the baffles and palm tree behind the drums. Cowtown was renowned for acoustics but you just couldn't hear him drumming. Came back in Nov. '72 with the baffles and palm-problem solved!
