Longtime mobile installer and big fan of sound deadening materials. Trying the Noico for the first time along with adding some Dynamat I had on hand and thought I'd do a quick comparison for the benefit of anyone on the fence about purchasing the Noico. Definitely would suggest at this point.

skuuuup I am working with my second pack now and one of the things I am really liking is how straight your cuts can be by following the grid pattern on this stuff. That was an unanticipated bonus with this product.

sound deadening's primary purpose is to prevent unwanted vibrations and rattles from sheet metals, harnesses , wires ,rods and plastics. it also quiets and insulates , the bass improvement is a byproduct of this process .

Thank you. I just purchased a 2018 Honda HR-V and I'm planning on installing some sound insulation where ever I can. However, being new to sound insulation materials, there's so many to choose from and I'm ignorant as to which ones are quality and which ones are garbage. Noico is looking very attractive to me, both in it's makeup as well as in price. Can you install the Noico inside the engine compartment on the firewall and other items mounted onto the firewall?

You can, but it would not be the most attractive or functional material. Dynamat makes a a really good hood liner and it is super attractive when you're done. As far as the engine side of the firewall, I would opt for something with heat resistance. Neither of these are entirely necessary and Noico would do well to reduce sound transfer in either location, but having products on the market specifically designed for these locations implies additional functionality and I would want those features myself.

Dynamat is 67 mils thick

Don't 80 mils mean 80 millimeters? If that so, the thickness would be more than 2 inches

80 mils is equivalent to 80/1000 of an inch.

Most of theses sound deadening materials only affect the high frequencies. Low frequencies (base) are non-directional meaning they don't care what you put in front of them they will go through. That being said I would still install this stuff just to cut off at least some frequencies therefore reducing some of the noise.

Non-directional doesn't mean it goes through stuff and even calling bass non-directional isn't very accurate. All it means is that if you put a sub in giant empty room and closed your eyes, you'd have a harder and harder time locating the origination of the sound the lower and lower the frequency goes but you'd definitely know what area the sound is coming from. And certainly bass doesn't move "through" stuff but transfers the energy to the object, and that object vibrates at a similar frequency producing a similar sound. If you put weight (butyl rubber) on metal (door panel), the speaker will have a harder time shaking it, just simple physics. A nice byproduct of this is that the speaker transfers more energy to the cone instead of shaking the panel in the opposite direction of the cone is moving.

PowWolf Rider if you need specs, or a description of what this material does, there are plenty of videos out there to help you with that. I only did this as a comparison between the quality of material used by Dynamat and Noico.

BEWARE of Noico 80 mil silver.....I just ordered two sets of it and both are SUPER thin. I purchased the black Noico 80 mil last year and it's TWICE as thick as their silver version. It's VISUALLY thinner than the black so beware when you buy it that you get what you pay for. With that said the stuff is great, it dropped the road noise on my Jeep Liberty by a large margin. I just post this so people will double check what they get so they don't run into my problem.

Twisted86 Please define "super thin" and if you would, put a micrometer on the material and post a response to this video. I would be interested in seeing your results.

Half the thickness of the older 80 mil black I purchased from them (same company on amazon and same brand) just a year ago. I wouldn't have known the difference had I not had a extra sheet from my last deadening job still. *edit* Apparently there was a problem with factory and they gave me a full refund without second question. I'm not the first one to notice apparently....great company though and their service was wonderful.

Sounds like a mislabel from the factory. Incorrect product coding.

I know, super thin, is it 80 mil? I measured mine and it is thin looking but also 80 mil. Harbor Freight has a digital micrometer for under 10 bucks. Well worth it.
