Good review. I am writing this post 8 months after your review and it is very revelant today. I picked up the 8.3 5G a month ago and chose it over the Pixel 4a 5G . The original price here in the U.S.A. was $699.99. I picked mine up for $399.00. Pixel 4a 5G is $499.00. I could not pass up the Nokia. I am back with Nokia as I am a former user. The 8.3 has a bigger screen, a more versatile camera set up, face unlock and expandable store. The Pixel lacks those features. The Pixel has slightly sharper photos but the Pixel wide angle is only 117 degrees as Nokia is 120. Pixel has OLED screen over LCD. Nokia LCD Pureview screen looks good...I am very content with it. So...I agree with your review. It would have been hard to spend $200.00 more on the 8.3 at launch.

I think it's great that there are still KZbinrs who deal with a smartphone camera and explain everything down to the smallest detail. I think the natural color rendering, sharpness, contrast are very good and the night mode doesn't have to hide either. Nokia is always portrayed worse than it really is. Does this phone have a better main camera than the Nokia 9 PureView. That's what we want to know. I mean in the JPEGs. Are they still over sharpened? Can this phone shoot in RAW + JPEG like the 9PV? Perhaps your next video can be a shootout between the 9PV and 8.3 :-)

Good solid review. I'm of the opinion being a Nokia fan is not inherently the best thing user wise. I'm a little more mellow about about the 8.3. It's going to be a toss between pixel 5/4a 5g or the 8.3. All have merritt's and cons but I think the 4a 5g and 8.3 are the real contenders as I'm starting to see lots of reports of build quality issues on the p5. You have made a solid case for the 8.3 as I was originally going to dismiss it. But I do think the 4a 5g does have the power to beat it just by virtue of good clean support with solid Gcam updates. But then the Nokia is much more well built with a bigger screen. Great vid and certainly food for thought.
@AbdullaZaki4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I personally dismissed the Nokia 8.3 before testing, and was expecting to be majorly disappointed but it proved me wrong. As a fan, this makes me happy. Most people will look at the specs and see better value on many other phones. But if you look at the 2 things I mentioned, aka hardware quality and camera performance, this phone is a lot closer to much more expensive phones that it is to the cheaper phones. But its still a hard sell
@Jonabaldi3 жыл бұрын
I think Nokia needs to make a comeback and gain reputation like they did years ago by making flagship phones at a decent prices! In today's smartphone competition there's many brands like the chinese that offer FAST Charging, Stereo Speakers and a different version of Android OS like Oxygen version from OnePlus! I am from the old school of Nokia, I am actually here because I am interested on rejoining the Nokia family. For the Price I believe Nokia needs to offer more because competition do!
@roswellgrays4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your great review Abdulla. İn the last times many Nokia fans and lovers have left the brand due to dissappointments and bad works from HMD. At least we still have you :) I am realy in love with it's solid desisgn and the colour of Nokia 8.3 (altough it is too big for me) I would like to use this model alot. All the lacks in specifications could be acceptable if the price were affordable. But it is realy expensive. And I find this as an another marketing mistake. İf I will pay such a money for a phone I naturaly expect better specifications. Hopefuly HMD takes rational steps in coming moutnhs or we may not see the rise of the Nokia Mobile in the near future.
@AbdullaZaki4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the encouraging comments :) I love the Nokia fan community as we are all very passionate about the brand and always expect greatness. So its nice when Nokia makes a good phone and I get to review it. The phone is expensive when you compare it to cheaper phones with the same processor. But when you compare it with phones with the same level of design/build quality and camera performance, you understand its value.

Interesting! Can’t wait to see how the 9.3 is gonna perform. A small detail, how is the haptic feedback? Especially compare with iPhone? Because I really hate the haptic feedback on the 9 pureview... it’s thin and flat and not smooth enough... Plus the bad quality speaker that really effect the using experience. Hope they did a good one on the 8.3 and if it’s good enough that makes the 9.3 even more fascinating 😏
@AbdullaZaki4 жыл бұрын
I think it has a better haptic motor than the 9 PureView. Its a lot more subtle if you know what I mean so that might be to your liking. The speaker on the 8.3 is also much better than the 9. So much louder and still retains clarity. The 9 is clear to me but not loud enough.

@@kevinaelbrecht4621 The screen is huge (I've got small to mediocre size hands for a guy). Other than that, I have nothing to complain really. One odd thing is that occasinally the the screen kind of freezes when I'm writing something, I think it has always been on Facebook (and with Chrome, I don't use the FB app). But when I drag the Chrome app from the bottom (to get the list of open apps) it types everything I have written while it was "jammed". There have been a lot of system updates also already, which shows that Nokia (or HMD) is really putting effort on the development side. Apparently there was (is? ) an issue with the camera app's AI system that caused the app to fail after year changed. But I think it was only in some countries/areas and I certainly didn't experince it (in Finland). There was a workaround for that (to get the app working without the scene detection), but there was a system update a week or two ago that I think addressed that issue.

How many of you want a gcam on Nokia phones? Will you buy Nokia mobiles if nokia replace their camera app with the gcam or with the gcam software processing ?
@lawrencejb68294 жыл бұрын
Yes
@AbdullaZaki4 жыл бұрын
You can easily install a port of gcam on almost all Nokia phones. This is the first time that I like the stock Nokia camera better than gcam on a Nokia phone :)

Nokia X71 was one of the finest designed Nokia phone by HMD but ALAS they did not launch it globally. :(
@AbdullaZaki4 жыл бұрын
I remember that. Such a strange decision

That would have been an instant hit even with hardware compromises. I would like to buy it even today.

I too wait for when Nokia goes back to it's camera roots. But I want a less modern design which seems to be almost impossible. I am standing strong with my 6.1 until they can offer a phone that does not follow all these silly trends, hopefully it comes sooner rather than later; it would be terrible for me to have to buy an unopened 6.1 and then what I am looking for is released 6 months later. Would you recommend the 950 XL as an alternative for a good walk around camera? I am too worried about walking around with my xt3 or it's many lenses as something could happen to it(also doesn't fit in your pocket lol)

Hi man I like your Chanel as I was just like you a huge fan boy of Nokia, I remember myself defending the n95, n96 VS iPhone then n97 I had them all, next I went to the lumia 920, I dreamed of holding the 1520 and later the 1020 but soon enough windows phone and Nokia was dead :(, but the new phone line that are made by hmsd global doesn't hype me at all, as I feel like they aren't able to provide a full complete experience, I always feel that they are beneath the competition and, so what I'm trying to say is the new Nokia doesn't have that premium aspect to it or that Finnish heritage that made it something else!

Hello sir how are you? Could you do speaker audio test?I really need that test
@AbdullaZaki4 жыл бұрын
It was initially a part of the video but had to remove it due to copyright claim, even though it was only 10 seconds. Will try and do one later. But the speaker is very loud and quite clear.

Great review as always. Unfortunately for me, hmd is different to the original Nokia - not the same creativity. Imagine if Nokia had just got onto android to begin with! Maybe that'd be a cool "what if video"!
@AbdullaZaki4 жыл бұрын
While they are different especially in terms of R&D budget and marketing, a lot of people who worked for Nokia are now working with HMD. They also have similar basic principles in terms of hardware design and durability. I think the 8.3 is a very good first step in terms of elevating the imaging experience to where it needs to be.

I think the main frame is Aluminum but with plastic coating
@AbdullaZaki4 жыл бұрын
It could be, because it does feel very dense. But this is another example of lack of communication. If it is aluminum, why is this not mentioned anywhere on the product page, specs, or press release? They should really do better.
@sualehirfan25144 жыл бұрын
@@AbdullaZaki yes brother you are absolutely correct but I believe it's metal because the same was the case with the Nokia 5.1 plus that felt like plastic but the main frame turned out to be metal after the plastic coating was scrached
