Dude I'm just gonna tell you right now that you have the absolute BEST content regarding Nokia/Alcatel SR routers on net. I've been looking all over the to find some quality content to go along with the NSR1 study material from Nokia, and you, sir, have a gold mine of thoroughly explained, and easy to follow content WITH real-world scenarios and analogies. It's easy to show people how something works, but it's not so easy to teach them, but you sir, do both really well. Keep the vids coming!

I hope this comment is true! I just moved into a new position where I'll be managing a broadband solution with Nokia. 6 years Cisco experience and 1 year Brocade. Never touched Nokia in my life, other than the phone I had 20 years ago.... The SR-OS looks really confusing... Hopefully in 14 hours I'll be a Nokia expert.

I appreciate the feedback, Abdullah! I tried configuring MC-LAGs a few years - I planned of doing a BNG lab for residential subscribers - but couldn't get traffic to pass over the MC-LAG. The MC-LAG was oper-up and even had valid MACs exchanged, but I couldn't ping across. If I remember correctly, GNS3 has some inherent limitation when it comes to L2 functionality. I may give this a try on EVE-NG, though... I'll have to carve out some time to experiment. Thanks for watching!

Hi Ajay, thanks for watching as well as the question! Nokia (fmr. Alcatel-Lucent)'s documentation refer to the CPM as both a "Control Plane Module," and a "Control Processor Module." Because the CPM is responsible for managing the Service Router's control plane, I opted to adopt "Control Plane Module" as the meaning.

What is the difference between IOM and IMM?
@thomastucker3764
@thomastucker3764 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Sandeep! An Input-Output Module (IOM) contains slots where Media Dependant Adapters (MDAs) can be installed, allowing you to mix and match ports based on your particular requirements. An Integrated Media Module (IMM) contains fixed, built-in MDAs that cannot be changed. As an example: you may have a single 10-port/10GE IMM installed in the chassis; to match that port density, you'll need a 2-slot IOM installed in the chassis and two 5-port/10GE MDAs installed in the IOM. Thanks for watching!

@thomastucker3764
@thomastucker3764 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Vanshita, thanks for watching and thanks for the question! Unfortunately, I don't believe the CPMs/SFMs come equipped with a USB drive; only CompactFlash. You'll need to [1] get a CompactFlash adapter (there's also a chance your laptop may have one equipped), [2] copy the files from the USB disk to your computer, [3] copy the files from your computer to the CompactFlash disk, then [4] insert the CompactFlash disk into your 7750. If the CompactFlash disk contains your OS files (boot.ldr, iom.tim, both.tim, ...) then you'll need to install it into slot #3 of the CPM/SFM. These routers boot from slot #3 (cf3:) by default. Let me know if you have any more questions!
