Man this is spot on. That’s what I’ve been wanting since I’ve started detecting. Let’s all just help each other out (despite which detector your swinging) and learn the hobby together. The metal detecting community has to be some of the best people out there & are eager to help. If you listen & pay attention then you can learn a lot in probably 1/8 of the time it would take you to figure it all out on your own.

Metal detecting used to be a much happier hobby. There is simply no need for all this anger and bitter rivalry over a "machine". Manufacturers and social media are seemingly happy to stir the pot though. They like to polarise groups of people and get them to defend the product. It has never been a better time to be a detectorist in terms of all the tech we have available to us even at the entry-level. I just use the machine that works for me. I am not in the business of trying to convince anyone else to use the same machine.

@@calabashdiggeradventures My comments weren't a criticism. You do a fantastic job of giving a balanced view of each machine. I was speaking personally. That is how it is done folks. Great job CD. I've been a critic of yours at times, but I think you deserve a ton of credit for your recent videos (especially this one) and hope to see more along this line. I'm a fan of Nokta and XP and completely agree with your points on both machines. I think you're helping us as detectorists by pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of each machine. Perhaps more importantly, you're helping us by helping the manufacturers better understand where they can improve.

Hey Calabash, They were wrong the way they came at you for expressing your findings about their detector. But I definitely think you are headed in the right direction with what you are doing. You want to help people the best you can. Don't let them dictate what you do. I recommend that machine to a friend because of the price to performance value. But I don't like that menu. It's hard to tell if you have saved your settings. The Deus II menu is much easier to me. Thanks for all you, Iffy and Sharpshooter do.

Hay Cal. Watched you when i was learning my Nox800, loved all your content & i learned alot found MANY 1800s coins. Then came the Deus2, had never really heard of XP. After watching you i pulled the trigger on one & i love it!. The Deus2 edges out the No800 in trash & the fold down sizeis AWESOME. Headphones are uncomfortable with glasses, coil cover sucks, charging connectors suck! Nox 800 Headphones are all day comfortable & you cant beat the charging connectors, its also a little more user-friendly (in my opinion) Theres give & takes in each one. Anyway, thank you for all the wonderful & informative content you put out there, its much appreciated.

It would be amazing if it could happen to have all three users under one hood all passing notes 📝, sharing information on the pro’s and con’s of all three detectors. To me, it’s the only way we can all grow and understand our machines completely. What’s the point of getting upset over what Is clearly unbiased accurate information that you’re providing. Like you said, you like all three detectors. Clearly some people need to grow up and bit, bite their pride.. maybe then they might learn a thing or too if they do! I for one appreciate your dedication and all the hours you put into giving us the information you do. This also helps all three companies to better, what are already three amazing products. I own two of them and love them both for what they are. With some future updates, hopefully this will make these machines even more enjoyable and efficient to use.

I've been detecting for 34 years and there is a time and place for all types of machines a fact you can't ignore. Now just a thought about bringing people together,,,, how about less comparisons and more explanations on why particular machines are better in certain situations. I believe it will help people make more educated purchases to suit their particular needs in searching. And also explain in more detail the best way to start adjusting the particular machine and not just this best setting rubbish we keep seeing. Calabash you have the experience and knowledge needed. I think people will enjoy their machines more and hopefully introduce some peace back into the the community.🤞😀

I think it is the detectorist that makes the machine work better than. It is just having a good machine. I have hunted places I was told were hunted out with my SpectrumXLT and was finding silver dimes and wheat pennies at my local courthouse. I have also found things right behind my nephew with his Equinox 600 me using my SpectrumXLT, found a Princess Pat compact about 2 ft from a hole my nephew dug 20 minutes before I hit the same area. Just get out there and have fun. No one likes to hear people talking crap about this or that, or my stuff is better than your stuff. Just get along and have fun. 👍😅😊🔥

There are a couple of problems with the Deus 2. It needs independent pinpointer volume control. The controller when mounted on the shaft rests on the top of the thumb knuckle. Full tones works fine for me but it does not seem to be consistent from day to day, different tones and behavior sometimes. Lets get some headsup glasses/display and a 5x9"...Get with it XP.

Thanks for video. Im glad that more detectors will be shown. I’ve owned the legend for the last year and I don’t think it gets the attention it deserves. I previously owned a nox. In my opinion on plus and minuses, I have dug far less little pieces of iron and or nails with the legend than the nox. The nox is a smoother machine at the beach than the legend, though the legend works fine. Vdis on legend are sketchy but listen for tones then adjust detector on investigation. I have found in the field performance is compatible. I recently purchased at Deus 2. I will say I am disappointed with 3,4,5 tone options. Even after changing pitch, it is still loud and blurty on every target but iron. On general hunts on nox and legend I could hunt hearing everything and it had a smoothness about it. I’m not seeing that with Deus 2. I have found if I want to hear everything with D2 I have to use full tones to hear everything in a gentler way. As of now, I have not dug anything that I don’t think the others would hit. I am eagerly waiting to use the D2 at the beach because I feel like it will shine there. Since I am new to Deus any suggestions would be appreciated on smoothing out tones. Thanks

I own dozens of detectors, Minelab, Fisher, Whites, Xp, Nokta, Garrett, and so on. My motto, use the right tool for the right job (conditions and locations). If a detectorist is knowledgeable, understands how the chosen detector works, knows its capabilities and limits, it really doesn't matter which brand or model machine is used. The fact is clear, there is no "perfect detector" as each has its own unique combination of characteristics and qualities. A $300 detector can out hunt a $2000 detector in the hands of experianced detectorist. I try to help new detectorists learn their machine of choice, I don't judge them or their detctor selection. We all started somewhere and learned more as we gained experiance (boots on the ground, coils to the soil, etc.) Truthfully, the new detectors on the market today are fantastic machines, you really can't go wrong with any of them.

I'm here commenting because some dufus wannabe cowboy hick left a comment on one of my videos saying I might be your twin brother. Better he gets vision correction than thinking of a new detector. You're clearly better looking. On a serious note, I just want to say - FINALLY - someone has said what I've been saying for years. Any company marketing a land/water capable machine NEEDS to include waterproof headphones. Build it into the cost. I got Pelso's for my Simplex and the nice thing is I'll be able to use them on the Legend if I go that direction. Which leads me to the next point. Have you been able to determine whether the Manticore build (similar to the Equinox in terms of magnet chargeable port) will be another Leakquinox? Want to talk about price advantage - there should be no reason Minelab gets to push a product in the all-terrain category after the disaster the Leakquinox was. That should be booted froom the amphibious, and into the Ace and non-waterproof category like honest manufacturers do. Curious to know if you have identified any water ingress faults in the design of the Manticore. The only thing coming in the way of me getting a Manticore is the lack of availability in purchasing one, and after the disaster the Leakquinox was in terms of flooding issues, with no voluntary recall by an irresponsible manufacturer who clearly puts profits ahead of consumer satisfaction, maybe the lack of availability is a sign I should steer clear. Overall good video, thanks for sharing the views, and for telling it like it is. We need more people like that in a hobby crowded by acolytes, cheerleaders, and dealers/resellers/influencers who worry about the truth interfering with their ability to oversell inferior product.

I own a Legend and Deus 2. Never even held a Manticore, so I can't comment on it. Couple things XP could improve with an update- the full tones and also separate tone "bin" volumes. I really like running my Legend in 5 tones with the sections for unwanted tones to be at low volume or even silent if it's really trashy. I run the volume higher in the regions containing good signals. Easily fixed with an update tho. The Legend VDI isn't very useful on deep targets. Have to rely on sound. When in doubt, better dig it!

@@calabashdiggeradventures I donated to you a while ago and although it wasn't that much money I donated to you because I think You've done a great job with identifying strengths and weaknesses with metal detectors, and ultimately I think that you have definitely helped push for innovation by telling the truth. All of it takes so much time out of your life to help others.... And at times you certainly have taken some heat for it... Unfairly I think. It's strange how groups of people will act sometimes when given information. I like information.. And you have certainly provided a lot of it. When searching for my next detector I found you as a reliable source of honest information. I am not a fan boy of any type of detector company.... I am a huge fan of innovation though, And you have helped push innovation. So thank you sir.. although I know my small previous donation isn't much, But I would think that anyone that has found your information helpful should at least donate $1 to you and if everyone that has gained any information from your videos would donate $1 you would certainly be given back a portion of the time and money it has taken you to invest in the things that you have had to invest in to produce the videos that help so many. You certainly deserve it. To me, having any one of those three machines means that I'm going to have a lot of fun, But owning all three seems to be the smartest thing a person can do. All three detectors have great strengths. I also can't thank you enough for pointing out all the information you have about the Manticore. You were one of the first people to identify the falsing problems on the Manticore and I think that you definitely have helped push for innovation and a software update from minelab in the future. More importantly.... Just knowing that The Manticore may false with iron gives you some more information about what's happening underground until they do come up with an update. And you definitely have pushed for innovation with the Deus2.... And probably even the legend and many others that I'm not aware of. That's incredible man. Thanks for everything you've done. That's why I'm going to donate again to you and I think everyone else should chip in a a few bucks to go your way. You certainly have helped many.... including me. I was looking for an upgrade. I went with the Manticore... But you better believe that I'm interested in purchasing the Deus2 or any upgraded model that they have down the road. XP makes great products... Incredible innovation. There's some things they've done on the deus2 The simply haven't been repeated yet and they've pushed other companies to step up their game. You definitely have been part of that innovation push... But yours is for the people. That's why you get another donation and I think everyone else should donate too. Thanks again, for everything you do. Tennessee sharpshooter has been great as well... Somebody needs to give that dude some money too. Some of the things that he has discovered about the manticore have been super helpful. All of this is a ton of information to help the people make the best decision for how and where they detect... You're awesome man. Sorry this message was so long... The truth often does take more time, effort and words, than a simple statement provides. Thanks again for taking the time to inform people.

Yes, we can! And we should... I started with White's back in the day, and I thought they were the best back then. I now swing the Legend and the ML Vanquish 540. I've learned not be so "brand loyal". I am also super glad to see the Legend back in your videos. I'm not really sure what happened in the past between ya'll, and honestly, I don't really care. It just water under the bridge. I do believe that the Legend does deserve a spot near the top tier of detectors. Is it the best, well no because their is no perfect detector. -Happy Hunting

Keep telling it like it is. No machine is perfect for every situation . I am afraid its like ford vs chevy . I am going to drive whatever before I walk . To each his own. I might have one of each including a Pi. Thanks for the video.

I have a manticore, and when I hunt with it, it starts chattering, and I have to shut it down because it will not clear up. Does anyone else have this issue?

Ricky, have you tried the “long press” of the noise cancel feature on the Manticore?? EMI can be intermittent in its intensity….lots of factors….the long press on the noise cancel will select “the best/quietest” channel before you hunt. If your machine gets noisy again while you’re hunting, try a long press noise cancel again to see if your machine selects a “different” channel….if the channel always stays the same, then your only choice is to reduce sensitivity or move away from the area and try a different spot. You could also try a different operating/hunting mode….or even select a single frequency to see if the noise settles down……look for “Continuous Auto Noise Cancel” on p. 58 of the online manual…that’s what the procedure is officially titled as….I like to call it “the long press noise cancel”. 👍🏼

In this day and age we should be using detectors that can I'd the type of metal. Why because Russia has a detector now that does.. so if we don't catch up using CPU microprocessors to do this then everyone will be buying this when they launch it and sell it through the various distribution companies. Like Ali etc think of the minelab X's with its CPU .... Why have we seemingly gone so slow when this detector would learn a target and ignore all others etc. Are we missing something here??? I own many detectors over 30 but one that's always been ahead is my Russian Aka Intronik. Depth speed and the visuals on the screen.... Even with a smaller coil on 6 inch it will beat my nox 800 on deep silver that's mad. Things will change soon. I can't fault my Aka Signum MFD HM or my Intronik why because nothing yet that I've tried lives up to them which I really wish wasn't true given the current world situation with Russia but hay I'm talking about well made and impressive detectors. They really are a work of art. I love other brands too like my Nautilus that runs two channel's at the same time. I think this is where Aka learned and thought hmmm let's continue making detectors that use this tech and Walla Aka did well doing so. Batteries last for about 20 searches even with the backlight on using Duracell x4 on my Sorax pro model. Unbelievable truly

As much as people don’t like to be told the truth these days, anyone that is considering spending this much $$$ on a metal detector should do their own research and examine the positives and negatives of each machine and decide which machine works best for them individually. Reach out to people in the community that have been using the machines and get their honest opinion. If you’re just looking for fluff, they have that too (advertising)!
