Thanks again for a very useful vid. Really like the way the Simplex hit the gold and the "hoard" - reassuring since I've just bought one and can't go anywhere outside the garden because of lockdown ( Jan 2021). This and your beach test in wet sand really showed the Simplex to be nipping the heels of the Equinox. And all it takes is someone who knows the Simplex well and someone who can't quite drive the Equinox and the Simplex will get the finds. I went for the Simplex deal with wireless headphones and pulse drive pointer for £369 with a 2 year guarantee, unbeatable. That leaves me with a little spare for travelling to the beaches when lockdown is over.

Same here. Max was a total bust for me. Several phone calls with testing while talking, sent back, new coil still so chattery in my soil it was useless. Lost $ having to resell it as no one would take back the brand new one that was a dud!

@Scipio africanus it's lighter, it not as chattery, the batteries, the pinpointing is more accurate, the screen is nicer and easier to use. The Simplex picked up items that my MAX plainly missed.. I did a test of a strip for 2 weeks before I got the Simplex and the Max missed items. Just my Opinion.

I must say when you were detecting that silver thruppence I dug one yesterday at 7/8 inches at least and I found that extremely surprising. Really dodgy signal but I still dug it because I knew it would be deep. Love that bloody machine!!!

After re-watching the video I think there might of been some deep iron near your hole that was being caught on the odd swing. Could be why it was picked up and then discriminated out. 👍

I started with the ace 250 and I can definitely say the stock coil is utterly useless, I'd say to anyone thinking of buying a Ace 250, chuck the stock coil and fit it with a nel tornado coil, it turns into a silver sniffing beast.. Would like to see a Ace 250 with nel tornado vs simplex. Good video anyway bud 🙂

You are correct, Ace series with the Nel Tornado coil is one incredibly deep machine and hits silver hard at depth.

Thor" I really like the way the simplex performs. The oy thing I don't like is , that rechargible battery system. I'd much rather be able to change batteries , rather than having to run home or to the car to recharge on a hunt. Much easier to carry spare alkalines than waste time charging. Other than that , and coil options , sounds like a great machine. Best of luck on ur next hunt.

Garrett is coming out with a new machine in the next few weeks. I just hope they have a multi-frequency deeper machine that can compete with the competition. Garrett is liable to wind up like Tesoro if they don't up their game a little.

good vid mate... simplex deffo won that one.... it seemed to sound like some ferrous was in or near the hole... i have found that all modes have a built in disc and some iron is totally ignored, except in all metal... maybe check the hole with all metal before test just to be sure.... great tests though bud (y)

I had an xp Deus when they first came out and before that an ace 250 with the at pro coil the ace 250 was just as good as the deus with that coil the ace standard coil is not very good

Great to see you back Thor mate and awesome review brother 😀👍👌....Now you know me i like my Garretts Although i am not brand hungry as you know with my new puppy lol ...that said the ace 250 brand new out the box £169 now the Simplex £299 and rightly so with those features ...now the cheapest euro-ace i could find £299 but thats what bag coil cover headphones etc sure you can get a euro-ace machine only for about £220 ish maybe less ...so i think the euro-ace might and this is might please dont hate me down anyone reading this i think it would have given a better result the then ace 250 ..plus aint finished yet lol ..the simplex brand new teq the ace 250 has to be over 20 years old or more ...lts like putting two ford cars together one brand new and one from 25 years ago seeing performance ...the simlex is growing on me i like the screen like how it folds and like the coil 😀👌...catch up with you soon brother

The Garret 400i may have been a more direct comparison. This Simplex is causing so much emotional pain to many of the brand loyal "high end" dectectorists! A wise man once said that am expert goes on a journey, whereas a master comes home... (Corke Erece'l The moral being that Masters will often go back to basics and stop seeking "more"... Great video!

The coil on the simplex is quite a bit bigger than the ace so a bit unfair, However I've used both of these detectors along with my deus and equinox 800 , The ace is definitely the bottom detector here , The simplex is a hell of a lot of detector for a fantastic price I really cant believe it's as cheap as it is for what you get , In my tests the deus is a lot better with discrimination and the equinox easily beats it all round especially for depth , But saying that both those detectors are far more expensive so should be better . Well done nokta the simplex is for a beginner or a spare detector unbeatable for the price .

i have the garrett400i i cant fault it its a great machine. the 200 looked like it was struggling tho glad i spent a little more. think the garrett ace has ground balancing which the 400i doesnt have but still very happy with mine 😆 would highly recommend the 400i or go for the garrett ace if youve got the extra money 👌
