The reason he specifically burnt that one statue at the end is because it was a statue of him. In his lyrics he says "you killed the saint in me, how dare you martyr me." Usually a martyred saint (one that has been given praise for some holy action they have commited prior to their death) has a statue created in memorium for them. And so he burns it because they are the ones that killed the saint that he used to be and because they killed the old him they have no right to praise or martyr him.
