Similar scenario happened in my place work. The auxiliary nurse came late to work, the Registered nurse who is her boss asked her while she is late, she flared up and spoke rudely in return. A cleaner can tell a manager to help her get something from McDonald as she doesn’t want to go and it is not a big deal. The last time I came back to Nigeria and paid a friend a visit at her workplace, I was nauseating because of the “superiority” quest in her organisation. I couldn’t last an hour there. I finished eating in “Tastia” Abuja, I carried my tray to go keep (I couldn’t even find a trolley to place it), and people were looking at me like I was a mad woman😮

They get paid to run shifts and as a customer assistant, I still do what they tell me to because that’s what I get paid to do. Agreed , the woman should have addressed her with formality like Ms Rose or something instead of dear child since she’s the boss. But the so called boss is truly disrespectful. She has forgotten that the number of years these individuals have dedicated to the company is the reason, she had something to inherit. If her parents had been rude to their staff, the company would have been grounded. What makes people to stay committed to your company or business is respect, care and love towards them which I believe her parents have always given. One way you show you’re the boss is shown in the way you handle your workers with regard. Knowing fully well that they are the brains behind it, she should have called for a management meeting with the top executives and a separate one with all staff. This is a study in business management too. She may have come with a fantastic idea of operation but she’d still need competent and knowledgeable people like these men and women to run the company. If she continues like this, disaster awaits her and she’d soon be looking for staff. Losing the old hands sometimes amounts to losing some business partners that they have persuaded to stick around. If she loses the old hands, she’d soon be dealing with hot heads like her. My two cents.

​In that company, there is an hierarchy so also there is culture. The societal culture does not overrule the company's culture. Regardless of your age, Your boss is your leader and not your child. If you feel you would rather stick to your age superiority, then quit the job and start your company. The company is established based on its culture, core values, mission and vision. Culture outside these does not override the company's.

A man that's got no balls to even startup an idea into a viable company has the guts to speak and boast of his 22 miserable years as a servant. He has children ooo, and by default teaching his children the way to poverty and pernurry while the company owner has raised his own daughter to be a leader and entrepreneur.
