I noticed your keys when you put them in the ignition...a lot of keys meaning a lot of weight which can loosen your ignition key switch over time can cause hard start no start or engine dying while driving. FYI for future issues. Good thing you have a buddy thats a mechanic. Ive learned a lot being broke down in the forest.

@@CHICOandtheVAN that’s interesting would’ve never thought that, I just broke down my key ring 😅 and have you tried getting help in the forest? 👀
@CHICOandtheVAN2 ай бұрын
@@paperbagnomad no phone signal where I was so I was reduced to fixing things myself. I only drive with the one key in now. But be careful not to lose it.

@@CHICOandtheVAN oooof yeah for sure, can a dealership make a spare?
@CHICOandtheVAN2 ай бұрын
@@paperbagnomad I think you can get a spare cut at Home Depot if your key doesn’t have a chip in it.

Lesson learned!!! Akways check connections tgst hooked to the battery and to the ground. 99% of the time is the problem. New vehicles are very sensitive loose wires!

Chiming in because my work vehicle is also a Nissan Xterra, I think it is a 2010 or 2011 and it has over 320,000 KM or 200,000 miles on it and runs perfect, I'm actually really impressed at how solid those old Nissans are. Great vid if I ever have the same grounding problem now I know where to look.....👍

Not sure what year your rig is, but an OBD2 code reader is pretty cheap and will reveal the actual issue behind a default "Service Engine Soon" indicator.
@paperbagnomad2 ай бұрын
@@NomadicPride well the shop had a reader and that was the cause. But I will look into that reader to have on had, good idea!
@NomadicPride2 ай бұрын
@@paperbagnomad The real benefit of having a reader on-board is knowing whether you can drive it another 5 miles...or 500 miles... depending on what the issue actually is. I think mine was $30-35. Invaluable tool.
