3 Point lighting is a common technique for videographers, KZbinrs and Photographers. It is even well established in CG and a lot of 3D artists use it as a starting point to light their scenes. What about using it in Nomad Sculpt on the iPad? Let's take a look.

Another dramatic lighting setup that I use is a two-light setup at more or less 180 degrees from each other, one warm and one cool, and use the HDRI for a little fill. But 3-point is the classic and well explained here.

On the way. Hopefully you can see why the lighting one is so important first. The feathers really pop with the correct lighting.

Thanks Mark! It really has some amazingly powerful tools for a mobile sculpting app. I am genuinely shocked at the sort of stuff I'm getting out now. I never expected to be going this long with Nomad and assumed id be back onto ZBrush by now. It's mental good

Thank you! I’ve watched many of your videos and have to say you are a great teacher. In every lesson, though they may be specific tutorial subjects, I always seem to learn more about the Nomad program in other ways. Really brilliant my man. Keep up the fantastic work!

Thanks Mayb. I love teaching lighting techniques as it's a quick way to get newer artists to improve the look of their work without having to improve other skills. Its great for 2D and 3D artists.

Amazing. I need to finish your first course and sling-shot myself into the 2nd course or I risk becoming just a gawker. Another vid well-done.

Hello Glen, hope this comment reaches you. I am pretty experienced in digital art and 3D sculpting is my next dream to master, and having bought a Tab S7+, Nomad seems to be the best choice to start. My farfetched goal is actually to make my own 3D games, and i know it will be a difficult but not impossible dream. Will Nomad be sufficient for the 3D modeling? I've heard nothing but great things about your course and i am planning to purchase it, regardless if i will be using it professionally one day or just as a hobby.

So what you need to remember is that Nomad and Forger are both sculpting and painting apps. They are awesome and you can make incredible stuff but they are only part of the whole process. If you want to make games you could certainly sculpt your first characters but you then need to UV then to allow texture mapping, make or capture the textures onto a map, project any high res detail abs bake that into the maps. Then onto rigging and animation. Blender is your best option or if you are a student Maya or 3Dstudio max or similar. Nomad is where I generate my ideas

None of what you make is wasted but there’s lots more you need down the line. It’s a great starting point

@@SouthernGFX Thank you for the quick response! Yes i guess i kinda already knew at the back of my mind that blender and zbrush etc are the more complete software at the professional level. Just amazed at what Nomad can already do and needed to hear 1st hand from a professional LOL. Guess everyone's gotta start somewhere, i will be listening to a lot of your voice soon! Hope to be able to get more help directly one day! I will use your course to get the hang of things for now. Publish more courses like blender if you ever get the chance!

This is a great video. Just a question, why is the shadow grainy on the plane when you move it? I also noticed this when working in Nomad Sculpt. Is there any solution to fixing the grainy shadow? As it doesn’t look good when using the turntable function and it’s very noticeable. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me out with this

Is the way you pronounce H a regional thing, because it’s only within the last four years and only here on KZbin that I have heard people pronounce it like that, not even my English teacher has a hhhh sound at the beginning of the letter aich H. I would never do it for other letters like ef el em en are es, but for some reason a lot of people have begun doing it to the aich H. Words like HIV and VHS was never pronounced like that. Plus it would sound weird too.

I'm from North West England and my accent/dialect are very typical for this part of the world. I'm not sure about what you are seeing/listening to on KZbin but 'haitch' or 'aitch' has been an ongoing problem for a long time. 'Aitch' is the correct pronunciation and seen as posh. 'Haitch' is incorrect and deemed 'not posh' whatever that actually means anymore. I'm from a working class background so it's not surprising that I would use it given where I grew up. There are also religious overtones in Northern Ireland where historically aitch was Protestant, haitch was Catholic. As I'm from a very secular background with no affiliation either way so I can' see that that would have had an impact. Either way, I hope it didn't distract you from enjoying the video. Have a great weekend.
