What if you have an arc at the electrical outlet near the diesel tank intake? Seems dangerous..
@keithwebster711816 күн бұрын
@jeffchancey4273 it takes a lot for diesel to burn. It's fumes will not light up and it needs to be compressed to really do anything. You can throw a lit match in a cup of diesel and it would not burn.
@danukepaintball15 күн бұрын
@jeffchancey4273 The GFCI trips first, it's what they're made for. And if that doesn't trip. The breaker in the panel will trip. Both will remove power instantly. There's no real danger. Diesel won't ignite from the little spark a 120v AC short would make anyways. But there are two things keeping it all safe in case of a short.

I know you already have a heater installed but do you know about the Truma and Alde systems for heating the bus and the hot water. In NuCamp's 2025 360 model, they also were able to control the air conditioner with the same controller for the water heater and air heat. I have a Webasto Gasoline parking heater that is currently not working because I did not use it enough. I like the reliability of propane. But I think they also make diesel powered unites. Glad you are feeling better and can enjoy you process of building your bus.

Are you driving it around a bit as you build to check for vibration and squeaks? I know it might take a bit of time to get to a flat road but it would be worth it to take the time to so this early as possible to see you need to add some mass vinyl or hdpe shims or spacers.

@bretttaillon672617 күн бұрын
Have you ever thrown a match in a bucket of diesel?
@see145017 күн бұрын
@bretttaillon6726 diesel fumes can ignite with a spark, especially in a confined space where the concentration of fumes is high enough, although diesel has a higher ignition point than gasoline and requires a significant spark or heat source to ignite; this is why diesel engines use compression ignition instead of spark plugs to ignite the fuel.

Suggestion, I would cover your tires especially while parked out in the desert. The UV rays from the sun will accelerate the dry rotting and destroy the side walls, therefore needing to replace your tires prematurely. I would replace the steer tires at a 5-year interval and the drive tires at a 7 year interval, regardless of tread condition.

I was put onto a special type of dry food that doesn't contain carbohydrates. I'm not sure of the brand, though. (I'm also in Australia.)
