Eric heres your tip of the day. Get a planet fitness membership for 20.00 a month and that allows you to have access to any planet fitness nationwide. They have showers. Walk the tredmill for a bit each day and use their showers. Why spend 8 to 10 dollars a day for a truckstop shower when you can shower daily for 20 bucks a month and stay healthy. Good luck friend. Be safe

Plastic hand pump spray bottle generally used for spraying weeds. You can take the spray wand off the end and replace it with a spray nozzle from a kitchen sink and use that as a temporary shower, solar shower,or for cleaning dishes and other things. The best thing I could suggest would be to do a Google or KZbin search and you'll find videos of people who are using this.

I was going to say the same thing, also if he would buy the atv tank it has a 12 volt pump and a 8 to 30 gallon tank. then he can run a sink shower and more. they are eazy to fill and use. would fit right under the bed. ( ERIC THIS IS A GOOD WAY TO RUN YOUR WATER CHEEP, I HAVE ONE SET UP )

all campers plastic water tanks, you could make one out of stainless steal,but if every one didnt have any water thru plastic,we would have to remove water lines in our homes too. so what is the answer.

I think a pull behind is an excellent idea. That f-350 should be beefy enough to handle pretty much anything you want to pull behind it. I've been in my 21ft Star Craft for about a year now, and I love the ability to be able to park it and have a place to call home. There are great deals to be had all the time out there. A pull behind definitely frees you up to do anything you want to do. It's all about what makes you happy. Safe Journey.

It's nice that you share so much of your life. I've watched every video you've uploaded going from the class C to the van. Funny thing is, I recently got myself a 1999 Ford econoline high top conversion van that was previously owned by an ambulance company. It's soooo large. I can stand up in it, and perfect for what I intend to use it for. work and camping. I don't plan to live in it full time. It too has a new 2010 motor, and transmission and seriously maintained! I took it for an oil change and the guys were eye balling it stating how clean it was. They LOVED it! I feel so lucky to have found it, and it all happened by chance; as I was looking for a class C, and got an opportunity that seemed too good to pass up. I jumped on it, and haven't regretted one minute of it. I do plan to start uploading videos to this channel showing people alternative ways of upgrading since I am a woman on my own. I have to be somewhat creative, to make things work temporarily. I look forward to watching more of your videos. I think you will gain viewers. It's nice to stretch out in a Class C but so much easier in terms of parking if you have a van. Just keep doing what you do and like everything else all will fall into place and work out for you! Love the cat. I have a dog.

Eric, I am doing exactly that.. I made a 4x6 enclosed trailer from a harbor freight trailer that will house my generator, bike, scooter, outdoor grill, canopy, a extra tent, sleeping bags.. extra clothes, and I am putting my folding chairs in it, that way when I start the generator it is quieter and I just run my plug to it.. In the future I will put batteries in it and solar. So it will be like a mobile power and storage solution. I will also put the solar shower on it.

Eric, I have lived on a small sailboat, and it is very much like van living. A map of all your storage areas, and listing what is in them, will make the transition easier. For pumping water, a pump fro an car window washer works pretty well, and is 12 volt. Newer cars have them built into the washer fluid tank, but they are a separate unit on older car..

I like the small travel trailer idea. That would leave you the van to run errands and make day trips, or do short overnighters in. The trailer would have all the plumbing, refrigeration, A/C, and cooking systems that the van lacks. There are many good deals out there. Good Luck, and Keep On Truckin'!

PS when you said you're going to get a pole trailer I would highly recommend a pop up trailer, they are superlight they have a king size bag another queen or king and it has everything An rv has and because you already have even more room in the van, it wouldn't be a problem with the space. Or you could get a cargo trailer (5-8 or 6-10 would be perfect) for hauling you extra things...that's what I am going to do once I get a motor home to live in. You've really inspired me to do this, thank you.

So really happy for both of you! I live in hopes to be able to do some kind of traveling when hubby retires. Your channel I found last year, so I have followed you since just about the beginning, learned alot from you and others. I have spent hundreds of hours researching, and if I went with a camper, it would be the ultralight weight type campers that had especially a bathroom. It also made me realize, the importance of a low profile type camper that is very aerodynamic, yet enough head room. TAB teardrops look good, if you can find a used one that is affordable, or other teardrops. Whatever you choose, keep those things in mind, because of gas mileage, and most importantly, enjoy your life. Life is too short for some of us, keep helping us to learn what is going on out there and how to go about it so we can try to embark on our own adventures. Thank you so much for hanging in there and keeping us inspired!

Eric, love to see you have Jax back and your home coming together! I don’t think the good viewers are going anywhere, maybe you’ll loose some trolls. Wouldn’t that be nice?! Have you thought about putting some big Yakima boxes on the roof? You could put 2 rocket boxes up there and get tons more room while still staying stealth. They’re pricey but worth it, sometimes you can find a good deal on craigslist. Maybe get a giant toolbox on the cargo rack for more dry storage, and to keep that nice generator more secure.

And a French press doesn't use any electricity either which is perfect for the stealth camper. I got one at Ikea for about half what a Bodum costs and now they even have ones inside a vacuum container instead of a glass beaker so your coffee stays hot for hours. Brilliant.

Living in a van is going to take some getting used to after being in a Class C but it is doable, especially for 1 person and a cat. It opens up a lot of possibilities for you and gives you some time to figure out EXACTLY what you want to do. One thing is that if you decide to get a camping trailer (and I like that idea), that definitely will affect your gas mileage. You know that it takes so much gas to move so much weight but it may just be worth it, especially if you stay somewhere and use the trailer as your home base and take side trips in your van. Then, you have the best of both worlds.
@KeatShadows
@KeatShadows 9 жыл бұрын
Janice, I had a thought, Eric should have kept Tillie and pulled her behind his new van,,,,lol. That would be the best of both worlds. Then he would have a place to store his passenger seat and he wouldn't have to throw any of his junk away.

Janice Adams Wondered about something like this myself. Is it possible to adapt something like an older 26-30 foot motorhome so that it can be flat towed with a van similar to Eric's? My thought is it would be cool to get an older motorhome with major engine/tranny problems for cheap, remove the engine/tranny to reduce weight and just make it so the front wheels will turn with the tow vehicle when it's being towed. The desired end result would be to have the equivalent of a travel trailer that could be left parked unattended for the day in a Walmart parking lot while using the tow vehicle to go into areas where the motorhome would be to big or awkward. Have you ever seen anyone doing this?
@janandbruceadamsvanadventu3226
@janandbruceadamsvanadventu3226 9 жыл бұрын
Snowbadger Vagabond I have not but I have certainly thought about towing my old VW Wesfalia behind a van. Take the engine out, remove the front seats to make a dinette and I think you would be good to go. You could just buy a dolly for it and pull it. The question would be how much extra gas it would use.

Eric, great van for getting you back to Washington...but...once there, you can decide if you want to get a larger RV again or keep the van and get a TT to use as a base. I remember you had a car earlier. You can use the van to get around or take short trips and have the TT for a base. Maybe consider this as well as how long you plan to take to get back to WA before you invest too much into mods or a TT now. Just a thought! Still this is an excellent van with so much already done...much better than a cargo...and a blessing from Kevin. Hope you will remember the "southern hospitality" you have received especially from Wayne and Kevin. Good people!!! Good luck!

Myself I was thinking of getting a Honda 2000 ($1000). Was going to carry / store it in a storage tub with lid in the bed of my truck. I want to run a braided cable to it and run that to a truck bed hook to keep it from "walking" away. Eric your going to have to make it stealth (generator) looking. I don't think a tarp is the answer. You defiantly want to keep it out of the weather.

For a shower base look into a plastic laundry tub, they're about 2'x2'. I've been using one at my cabin for over 15 years and its still as good as new. You'll want to cap the drain and reinforce the bottom with a couple of pieces of 2x4 and/or foam. It will probably fit for storage where your box of clothes is next to Jax's box and you can store things in it when you're not using it. I made a cedar mat for the bottom so I'm not standing in the water, but you could probably put a small waterproof stool in it to sit down since your head clearance is low in the van. Another advantage is the deep sides, the curtain won't pull out and get water on the floor. I made a rod out of pvc pipe to hang the shower curtain, a standard 6' curtain will go around 3 sides. I second the idea of using a 2 gallon plastic lawn sprayer for the water. Extend the hose and it can sit on the floor outside the shower, but in reach to pump up the pressure as it goes down. I heat the water on the stove, fill the sprayer and I'm ready to go. There's always water left at the end of my shower. Keep the videos coming.
@adkbluecollar
@adkbluecollar 9 жыл бұрын
No need to replace the spray nozzle, just take the wand off. I also use a hand held sprayer for doing dishes, but if space is too tight for two, the lawn sprayer will work for that too.

Heres a suggestion Eric... Ever see a truck or a van with those tubes about as long as the truck? Those tubes usually carry blueprints and such. You could get some of those to hold your fishing rod. That would free up a cabinet for ya. Paint it black to match Bertha. Or leave it white to match the roof. It might even add to your stealhiness!

Hey Eric, good to see you looking happier and that you and Jax are back together again. Have you considered using (When you can afford to) light covered utility trailer to use as your washroom, shower, storage and stealth genny location? I dont mean to stick a bunch of stuff on the roof of it. I mean stick it all INSIDE. Keeping stealthiness. You could keep the genny inside the utility trailer and run the exhaust through the floor. Wire it to the van through a standard trailer plug. Would allow you to move the crapper to the trailer and use that space in the van. A shower with a coleman hot water on demand would be doable in the trailer as well. Used aluminum uhaul trailers are cheap and plentiful. I really like your van. Take care and stay safe.

I had a van like that when I was in high school, that was back in the 80's man the fun times I had in that van. Drive inn movies were still going strong back then. Thanks for bringing back the memories. Any way I have had two vans that I customized into campers. a popup trailer, A truck camper, class c motorhome, And two travel trailers, I like the travel trailers the best. I don't think you can go wrong with getting a trailer to pull behind your van. There are lots of advandages to that, just the first one is you can unhook it & do your running around.

well it's really exciting to see what your doing and planning on doing with the new RV. something i just thought of last night (while not sleeping) is to 90% fill a clear bottle with water and strap it onto the roof with bungie cords and then i'd have water heating up while driving or hiking or touristing; then i'd have verrrrry warm water, maybe hot, for sponge bath, tea, coffee, cleaning up, dishes, chocolate drink,etc.

Love your channel even MORE, now that your a " Vanner"! You are now much more mobile and potentially stealthy (get rid of the black paint, too hot, put a ladder on the roof), and you can camp anywhere! The trailer or even a small car in tow would give you a safety net and redundancy for sure. Good on Keven for paying it forward, you will get your chance too! God Bless, Sgt. Gary

Very cool to see you excited. What an awesome guy campervan Kevin is eh. I love small spaces too - i like how you took out the seat for Jax. Glenn at ' To Simplify' blog also did the exact same thin g for his cat Emily. His set up is pretty damn neat. Looking forward to see how you progress. It's an awesome black beast.

Great van Eric! Can't wait to see your new adventures unfold :) If only we had such cool vans in New Zealand..... really only have Toyota Hiace that would work here. Should of kept my 1971 VW Kombi Dormobile camper! They are huge money here now, at least 30 or 40k for a good one! All the best.

I started watching to see what all is involved with living in a vehicle. It gravitated to watching your life. It was kind of cool the transition from informative to I wonder what is going on. But I LOVE the whole new van thing. I am so excited thinking about what all your going to do & getting to watch how you make it a usable home. The solar, water, shower, toilet, just all the upgrades. This is what we want! If you come through Shreveport Bossier on i20 let a call out. My ol lady coupons I have bookoo shampoo, conditioner, detergent, all purpose cleaner come stock up. Have a good adventure.

Eric, you should check out hte Champion 2000i generator. They get very good reviews and there is a following of them in the RV world. As far as showers, you might want to check out the pop up shower tents. Get a plastic tub and put in the bottom to stand in and then you can collect the water. That way, water is not going all over the ground.

Hi Eric... sounds like you're making it work I never doubted you would. I like your thought of possibly buying a camping trailer. There are many inexpensive ones out there. You've got the perfect rig to tow it with. You could always park it in a secure place and take side trips for a few days too. I'm sure you'll work it out. Good luck !

Looks like your kicking butt, on the way to getting back on road, YaY!. and ref the chair-darn right i would remove it-now just rebuild jax's seat like you had made. I'd not do the shower for now and mount the inverter up in the small area cabinet behind ya head with the controller on the wall . outside under a tarp will still get moisture in it even covered. looks awesome and that rhino liner stuff is growing on me-wonder if it comes in blue.. cant wait for next update ty Eric and we are still here with ya brother.
