You seem like a gentle, kind, loving soul. I wish you all joy in your new horse/home combo. Also shout out for your choice of grey: my very favorite neutral/bridging tone, classy, brighter than black, more character than white, soothing and homey, matches absolutely everything, hides at least some dirt--and for those who care about that sort of thing, never goes out of style.

This is a fantastic build for any step van. You’ve included so many creature comforts and I can tell that this Mobil home is super comfortable. With that being said I’m very surprised that you didn’t include a full on indoor working shower considering how much space you have within the step van. Regardless, it’s a beautiful home on wheels and I know it completely works for you! Thank you for sharing and take care!

I LOVE your rig. Love the floor plan you designed too. I have the same wood in my motor home I took from my barn and coops because I miss my farm.
@mjremy26054 жыл бұрын
Lovely build. The barn wood adds so much character to the space! Love the wooden organizers in the back too, solid and useful, and more rugged than plastic. I think you need to add a window next to stove for fumes and maybe a skylight for natural lighting. Its dark inside and gloomy. Cozy for winter nights but depressingly dark. You also need a shower room with toilet inside. A lot of space lost on huge couch which might serve you better to be replaced with a shower room partially? Lucky you for traveling so much. That is wonderful for the mind! Where do you park van when not in use? This is the elephant in the room no one wants to talk about. Batteries need charging, van needs to be used or wheels will get damaged, so who takes care of this when you are gone? Paying for parking, esp sheltered parking can run $500 per month.
@tosh0064 жыл бұрын
Very nice. But 2 questions 1) why not put the toilet next to the tools. And not by the food.. And wouldn't a enclosed room with a fan also help for odors?

I plan on building something over the next few years for when my last child is out of the house so I can road trip and have somewhere to call my own while I do. Thank you for the Step van Idea. Maybe when I start building it I will start my own channel to show the progress of the build.

Very nice indeed. Good idea since a lot of cities are now prohibiting RVs parked in parking lots. To further enhance your incognito status, you should install a sort of drapes or plain color curtain behind the driver area to keep the back out of sight. And looking at your height, you made the right choice.
@donnabursey14572 жыл бұрын

If you covered you entire roof with solar panels & made a panel out of 2 or 3 solar panels that could hang on one side of the van or the other depending on what side the sun is going down or maybe just have them on both sides. Then you could turn your van into a solar electric. A lot of people are connecting them to the multi gear manual & say the 7 speed automatic transmission for efficiency. You could also put an Onan diesel generator to assist with electricity for night driving when your batteries got low. You could also put a couple of sailboat wind turbine generators on the back to corners for extra power. Then you could install regen for braking. Have you ever heard of the VIA hybrid gas/diesel electric trucks & Vans that get about 100 mpg in the city & maybe 125-150 on the highway with a V6 gas & even better with a small 4-6 diesel depending on size of vehicle.

Very nice rig! Impressive, and functional indeed! The exterior white paint job, keeps you cooler, in the summer, but my only concern, if stealth camping in urban environments, have you ever been "tagged"? The huge white color side of the box truck, unfortunately would be a tempting canvas, for these taggers to paint their crap, onto the side of your van.

Love this type of van and the set up. Only downfalls are the shower situation and composting toilet. The sinks and counter top are Awsome but too long. I would shorten by 3 to 4 feet on each side for the shower and toilet. Outside of that it’s an Awsome traveling vehicle and the best part is it’s Stealth and blends in anywhere opposed to having a camper which stands out.

A suggestion would be to simply affix some aluminum "U" shaped channel to the bottom of your larger tabletop so that it can slide over the edges of the existing table. It would be held securely in place with a tool-free, 5-second swap. If the closest available channel size is a hair big, you could adhere some thin plastic sheeting (like the colored cutting sheets) on the underside of the larger table to protect the smaller table's surface. This would solve the headache (and wear) of unscrewing one table to use the other while eliminating any lose hardware. Just a thought. ;-)

Pretty cool. I’ll bet you could build a shower by mounting some ABS on the roof. Put the fill valves inside. People will just think it is a plumber truck and with a place to carry pipe.

That’s a nice big van. Always asked myself if it could be stealthier by adding fake “low key” business decals outside. Like, Uniform and safety apparel inc. or Parking lots marking and signs inc. or Driveway/walkway cleaning service for example. Low budget business is key. But then it’s more recognizable overtime than just plain white.
@snappingturtle16214 жыл бұрын

I'd say delivery vans and luxury passenger minivans are probably the two best vehicle types that can be used for this if you want to fly under the radar. A random delivery van parked at the right spot in an industrial zone is unlikely to attract attention, and a luxury minivan parked in a residential area with the shades up won't be out of place either.
